Still question the need for more seating in a renovated Timmons after this game being a “sell out”. Plus if students currently don’t show up what’s the point in building more seating for them when the student body grows bigger. Current FU students could care less about sports. The ones that do are in Greeklife but the majority of FU is not associated with a organization.

I am the biggest cheerleader for a renovated Timmons but what is the point increasing the seating capacity for them just to go empty during the season

I was told that with the renovation they were going to “downsize the seating capacity” by a reliable source. Does anyone really know the plans here?

In both football and basketball I think the best way to have more fans will be to WIN. But the ceiling seems to be somewhat low with FURMAN being a small school and the two much larger institutions in the state.

No we do not need more seats every game and never will but certainly need more on some games. Just like last Saturday when we could have easily sold another thousand. Playing on Wednesday and Sundays at 6 are both big church nights and are not the best for attendance. Saturday is much better. The SoCon needs to go to Tuesday for weekday games IMHO. A new really nice arena just might entice more people to come, even students.. Right now I am sure people don’t bother because they know they might not get a ticket or if they do it won’t be a good one. It’s all relevant, a new arena means better attendance.

Never heard anyone say it would be less than the current Timmons. If it is just forget the whole thing.

We had a relatively awful run as a program for about 35 years.
Our attendance (students included) has be creeping upwards every season for the past 8 years, its only going to keep growing year in and year out ;)

Gotta love/hate channel 4. Julie spent a minute and 55 seconds on SC women and 31 seconds on FU men.

You may be right if Elizabeth Davis OR Jason Donnelly said so.

"sell out" was 2179. Cant be right. There was a game this year with 2500
Students didn’t show. Thanks to the ones that did,
Not making an excuse for the students. With it being Presidents’ Day tomorrow, it’s possible many were away.
Sadly we don't get that day off, Sundays are generally not great student wise and not a lot of hype for this one

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
