Will Furman be joining the Atlantic 10 for the 2023-2024 Basketball season, as rumored, or will we need to wait until 2024-2025?

Of course we all know the rumored ECC that FU can create with teams like Furman, Belmont, Davidson, College of Charleston, ect. is the way to go

We’ve recently seen several posts about statues at Furman. If we were, in the future, to erect a statue of Jason Donnelly on Furman’s campus…

1) Roughly, what year would it be dedicated?
2) Where would we put it?
3) What would be the 1st 3 accomplishments listed on the accompanying plaque?

Unlike Apaladin I have the opposite concern. I would much rather have a smaller arena with a more packed crowd than a big arena with empty seats. I hope that FU realizes both the benefits and negatives with the size of the new Timmons.

whatever the capacity (SD thinks it will be 2500-3000) the main goal is the "wow" factor when a recruit comes out the tunnel

Also, whatever the capacity:
in addition to the wow factor, are we going to be committed to maintaining a perennially “successful-enough”, “winning-enough”, program that the arena will be sold our for the majority of the games we play there?

As much as I would like that to be the harsh reality is the capacity has to be a manageable number that allows for both growth and a good atmosphere. I was not saying keep it abnormally small, I was saying let’s not make it to big to where empty seats are prevalent.

You cannot grow the program with a facility that is already outdated and undersized when it opens.

All this has already been addressed by JD, they want to grow enrollment, just go to 47:50 on the video to get you up to speed.

Notice how he emphasizes number of “applicants “ to increase tuition, that in a nutshell is the plan.Personally I think it is a horrible approach. Absolutely agree with the above. Wish I could share info but its prolly better left unsaid.

As I said, the plan is and JD emphasizes this , to increase applications and increase tuition yield. He could have simply said FU wants to increase it size by X over the next few years. That is not the plan, talk with a few faculty and staff outside of athletics at Furman if you want a clearer picture of the direction our President wants to take.

Where in the video does he mention "tuition yield"?
I've watched it 3 times now and don't ever hear him mention those specific words.

He's talking about a 'boom', and NET tuition, which comes from exposure in major Sports that allows increasing enrollment and leads to greater NET tuition. The increase in applications allows you to increase enrollment without compromising academic integrity for the University.
