This is what happens when you have a committee using the Coaches Poll as a gauge. Incarnate Word AND Lamar in makes this playoff field a complete joke.

No, it’s what happens when a team does not take care of business. It also is a reflection of the fact the SoCon is no longer highly regarded. I come from the school of thought that a team controls its own destiny. Success should not depend on what other teams do. Just take care of business and the result will be positive. Waiting and hoping other teams fall is not the path to success. That said, Clay will get us there. Go Paladins!

I'm not surprised. September counts and not being able to schedule a make-up game hurt too. If possible Furman should do that now to get the extra practice. BTW, I thought Incarnate Word opted out of the playoffs for a money game.

Do you follow all of FCS or just the SoCon? The Southland does not deserve 3 playoff bids...especially one to a 6-4 team. Indiana State was screwed too.

The sad thing is that Samford is probably the best team in the SOCON.

UIW had a clause in their contract that allowed them to back out should they make the playoffs.

I don’t care about the other conferences. Give me your argument as to why my comment is not valid.

Basically, no one fought for Furman… it was just brought up that Furman was a co-champion but the head of the committee said Wofford was basically our only quality win. Shame on the committee.

I think had ETSU won the conference outright, Wofford probably would be sitting at home too. SOCON not getting the respect it used to.

When Incarnate Word came up first at 6-4 I knew we didn't make it. Goes to show the committee doesn't look that hard at bubble teams.
Same. Never seen them play, maybe they are really good. But to me when cancel a game intentionally for a money grab FBS game during the playoffs you are saying that you don’t want to be in the playoffs. They should have been out and someone else in.

Wofford would have made it with 8 wins, even without auto-bid.

Lamar making the field is indefensible. One of the worst at-large picks of the past 15 years, easily. Not that it would have mattered for Furman.

Well, I hate Wofford but they need to kick a$$ on Elon.

And I hope Clay and this young team puts this diss on the wall and comes out swinging next season.

And...he said they compared FU’s win over Wofford against the wins of “the other co and tri champions and decided FU was not as deserving as those teams.”

Lamar, UNI, and Montana St. (may be others) were not Co or tri champions. Was FU NOT compared against them before being eliminated from consideration?

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
