Does FU have the best student section in the SoCon now? I believe we do.
Its certainly a compliment when other schools are complaining about it lol

I know Samford thinks they have a decent section, I watched their game this past Saturday and it was nothing special. However, I am sure it will be pretty good when we go down there Feb. 25th just as it was when we went down last year.

My $.02...for whatever it's worth.
We have a great student section in terms of size...where we're lacking is energy. If 80% of the students are sitting rather quietly, talking to one another, or looking at their phones, then it really doesn't matter how many show up. We really need more than the first two rows to get into the game.
Half the battle is just showing up, and seeing so many students at games is fantastic. Having a student section that takes home-court advantage over the edge comes from the energy they provide; standing, cheering, chants, etc.

I agree, and I think that is the next step for them to take, as we keep winning and they keep showing up they will keep learning how to become more and more effective!

"Following Wednesday's contest, Furman returns to Timmons Arena on Sunday, February 19, for a nationally-televised SoCon showdown versus ETSU on ESPNU. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. and the Paladins will honor seniors Bothwell, Lister, and Slawson during pregame ceremonies."

Thought it would be next Wenesday but guess not. Prolly not a bad move since Sunday is likely to be a sellout.

It is possible that the term "nationally-televised" may have some part in the decision to honor the seniors Saturday instead of Wednesday too.

Maybe, but the pregame ceremony won’t be televised but I guess they could show clips or mention it during during the game. 🤷🏼‍♂️

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
