The HP arena is not a basketball arena. Its an entertainment palace

If a very nice arena = NCAA trips, HP should be dancing every year!

If the new Timmons is 1/2 as nice should be pretty good

Only piece missing for Dins is practice court

PS HP has not been to NCCA in the last 24 years

Of course its not just having a nice arena (see Elon also lol), you've got to have the right coach who knows how to work with that schools admin to get a winning culture in place. Arena is just one piece of the puzzle that we need checked off to have a fully well rounded program that can help sustain winning.
absolutely but you gotta admit that HP arena is INSANE. $170M with Conference Center. wow
Indeed very nice!
Throw out the popcorn, hot dogs, pizzas and sodas. The concession stands will have caviar, souchi, martinis and champagne!

What Qubein has done at HP since taking over (2005) is one for the record books. Over 100 new buildings have gone up under his tenure. He has raised $600 million since that time too. https://www.highpoint.edu/blog/2022/03/ ... 0-million/ and https://www.theassemblync.com/education ... niversity/

as nice as the HP arena looks on the simulation, IMHO it does not have a good TV appearance. The oval design and light colored aisles doesnt look good. Seats are at an angle looking at center court but when the action is under the basket they have to turn heads awkwardly

Agreed, behind the scorers table shouldn't be oval shaped

BTW Elon and HP both are in bottom 2 cellar dwellers in their league. Wish Dins could play HP again. Totally differen result IMHO

HP Prez was interviewed and he said "New Arena IS NOT a basketball arena. Curved design is so all have a good seat" hmmmm... Timmons 2.0?

One brilliant move... all the facilities... restarant, hotel, conference center are staffed by students in Hospiality major. Imagine that.. no paychecks!

My only wish is FU doesn’t make another mistake by making it too small. We already sellout Timmons sometimes for Saturday games. We just had over 6,000 at the Well. You would think the goal would be to continue the projectory including attendance. Don’t stop the mo by not increasing the capacity.

agree but they are constrained by the outter shell. Only so much that can be done including ceiling height.

IMHO 3000 would be a good parctical size. That would be big enough to give each grad 4 tickets in case of graduation inclement weather and also allow a venue big enough to get the entire campus in 1 locations.

Dukes Cameron Indoor only holds 9300 but its sold out and a great atmosphere.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
