He's arguably "short" for a defensive lineman, but not "small."
Watch his film. The dude looks like he's shot out of a cannon. He's going to be an excellent compliment to some of our hulking interior linemen and allow us to mix up our fronts and techniques.
There can be a big advantage to having a shorter high motor physical defensive lineman. They can be incredibly tough to block for usually taller and less nimble offensive linemen. Remember, a lot of SoCon teams are single back spread offenses were much of the running is east/west, not north/south. There's value in being able to shoot through a gap and chase down the ball carrier.
There's a big list of successful NFL pass rushers who came into the league around 6'0. Not to mention, there have been a number of very good defensive linemen at Furman of similar size and build.
A lot of line play is power and leverage. He looks to have both. He is probably a day 1 rotational piece inside.
