I hope my expectations are appropriately tempered. By all accounts, having lost 4 seniors this should be a building year for us. But you never know. Heck, the most recent ESPN BPI (from Oct 23 - two weeks ago) has FU at 85, two places above Xavier at 87. Go Furman!!

Sounds like so far the standouts have been Mounce, Rafferty and Gurley. Hope Brown is in the starting lineup tonight.

Mounce was 5th starter. Gurley, Clark and Bothwell first off the bench.

Rafferty with 24 points, 7 boards, 5 assists, a steal and a block. MVP

Lyons had 23

Clark played well. Gurley limited by 4 fouls. Only 3 turnovers.

We could make it difficult for some teams with our length. (Don’t like length as basketball term but everybody uses it....)

Brown only 6 points.

Jalen Williams and Slawson on the bench in street clothes. I am told they were not injured.

Williams was suspended for a couple of games. Knowing him, his habits, and his general attitude, I don’t think he’s in trouble with anything outside of school. Probably something that has to do with academics. Is it possible that Slawson will be redshirted?

Rafferty and Lyons looked in mid-season form. Mounce played well on both ends. Hunter ran the offense efficiently and contributed a few points. I think Lyons finished with 7 threes. Of the newcomers I was most impressed with Mike Bothwell. He has good size, handles the ball well and can score. Good to see Tre Clark contribute in his 3rd year. Richey said Gurley was pressing. In 18 minutes he didn't score and had 2 rebounds but you can still see the potential in him. Overall a good start against an inferior opponent. Looking forward to seeing Friday's game in Chicago against a superior opponent.

We had the advantage inside and Rafferty and Mounce made good use of it. Raffferty hit 9 of 11 shots and Mounce was 5-5. Rafferty and Lyons with career highs. Bothwell looked good as a backup point guard. Rafferty's 24 and Lyons 23 were career highs for them.

Our 3 turnovers were a record low - best stat of the night. 21 assists and 3 TOs is a ratio we can live with.

Tre Clark looked good in his 16 minutes.

Good way to start the season.

Does anyone remember when 100 points was the standard and not the exception?

Yes, the better part of the 70's.

Massey had a nice projection of 101-52. Not sure that you can take much away from a game like that, though it did showcase the general plan of avoiding turnovers and shooting a ton of threes.
