I can confirm it's purple helmets. I'm optimistic that grey unis with purple helmet would look really sweet, but I think our uniforms both road and home were classic and needed no upgrades. Have we ever won a game wearing grey jerseys?

Yeah - also…FUBeAR thinks the middle stripe is designed to evoke sword imagery.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not for changing our traditional look. It's classic, and one of the best looking helmets out there. I like the design of the alternate helmet. It keeps the diamond F and incorporates some new twists. Just me.

Here's my feeling on this.

In this era, sports teams are more apt to express individuality. Realistically, Furman changes its look constantly. We feel like they don't change because it's purple/white, but the uniform is different every few years - different striping, numbers, fonts, colors, combinations, etc.

If the Boston Red Sox, with one of the most traditional classic uniforms playing in the most traditional of sports, can pull this off, then Furman can wear black one game a year:

Additionally, what I don't know is whether Furman is keeping the gray alternate or this replaces it?

Also, I hope we don't make the mistake we did a few years ago and start combining out purple and white with the black. If you want to wear black for a game, fine, but lets not start mixing and matching.

I love our traditional look. I know our players are going to be jacked about this look. This is way beyond that mess we had some years back with the black. If it motivates our guys, so be it and Go FU! Our traditional look will always be #1.
