If NGU is a successful game attendance wise this season I could see us add them again at home in 2024, but only if this year is a success

Only if we don’t care about the playoffs. Its still a game that doesn’t count. IMHO without knowing of course it seems at least on the surface that JD has not been very aggressive about schredulng, Last future game announcement was 3 years ago,

Could have been FU we need a game for 2024.
Part of a contract negotiated/signed in 2019 which also included the 2021 Mercer @ Alabama game.

There are a group of Moc fans that want us to play a P5 and a G5 every year, instead of one money game and an FCS game, and my argument is about the playoffs as well. To me money games are necessary due to the fiscal needs of the program.

I really want to play a quality FCS opponent every year OOC - a top 25 program from another conference - and another FCS game that may be a "should win" game but is a close, logistically easy game. That gives the program a chance at a quality win in the eyes of the selection committee, and what should be an OOC FCS win in the other game. Of course as long as you are playing FCS counter games, the selection committee doesn't seem to care much about SOS. You could beat Presbyterian and Robert Morris, then come in 2nd in the SoCon at 6-2 and get an at large bid, while if you beat Richmond, and lost to Montana by 3 in OT, and came in 2nd place in the SoCon at 6-2 you don't get an at large.

While the top of the SoCon might not be as dominate as it was during the App/GSU heyday, I think the conference is as strong from top to bottom as it's ever been. We've lost a little bit of prestige and we beat each other up in conference play, so to get more teams in the playoffs, I think we need to limit our D2 games, win our OOC games, and of course not fall flat on our face when we do make the playoffs.

Normally we play a decent OOC schedule, but this year isn't doing anything for us with UNA and Eastern Illinois. UNA has the potential for a decent rivalry for us, but they aren't a top 25 program yet (at least through fall 2021). We do play KSU next year I believe.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman and William & Mary are set to resume its football series with a pair of future games announced today.

The Paladins and Tribe are scheduled to clash on Sept. 21, 2024, in Williamsburg and meet again on Sept. 6, 2025, in Greenville.

Furman and William & Mary last met in 2000 in Greenville in a game the Paladins won, 34-10. Furman, which claimed a 52-6 victory in Williamsburg in 1999, has won six of the last eight meetings with its former Southern Conference rival. William & Mary holds an 8-7 edge in the all-time series.

I was there and it was a great weekend! My favorite football road-trip ever. Hope to go back for the 2024 game.

This should make AP sleep better. :D
A little bit but we’ve known about these games for 2 years so nothing new. Away game date is same as previous. Only change is the home game has been moved back a week from 8/30 to 9/6. Hope that means we have another FBS game now scheduled for 8/30. 2024 and 2025 are 12 game seasons.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
