It is gratifying to see the gifts for our basketball program from members of our coaching staff and former players. It’s a testament to the quality of our program and our people. Another huge shout out to CRC for providing a basketball package for the Charleston Classic for our biggest ($ not lbs.) donor to the basketball program today. Is is very special opportunity. Lets go Dins!!!!!

Considering Football has so many more former players than Basketball (around 100 players each year on a football team, around only 15 on a hoops team each year) , I would say hoops is really out pacing it in fine fashion from a fan/alumni angle (speaking about this DinsDay donation drive)

You need to factor in that Football had it's largest alumni/friends fundraiser 3 days ago and some made their contributions at that time. The FFPA raises well north of $100k annually for football operations, and has done so for more than 20 years.

I knew someone would get defensive, that's why I had in parenthesis (speaking about this DinsDay donation drive)

My point remains, Football has 100 players every year and a much larger staff ect., Basketball has 15 players and a smaller staff ect., the donation base will need to come more from fans/alumni than it otherwise would for Football

Nothing defensive, certainly not meant to be. I agree the numbers for basketball and other sports are impressive.

I am a football fan too, just wanted to highlight a hurdle that a University sport with less former athletes/athlete parents, ect. faces in fundraising

Not really true as you need to look at graduates. Football 10-15 a year and basketball 2-4 a year.

Hope basketball gets enough to get some new unis. Think we’ve had the current ones for 4 years. I wish they would let me design them. 😂😂

????

Football has 90 guys in the program, Basketball has 15

That also equates to a ton more family ties to the football program just from its sheer size of athletes

Expand all that out over 40, 50 or 60 years and that number is a HUGE difference

Its much easier to target and raise money when you have that many more people directly connected

Yes but its not like you have a 100 different football players every year. Maybe every 5-6 years.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
