There was a junior QB sitting behind me yesterday. He understood that we usually threw it more ... he knew we were playing our backup QB. Same w the TE sitting behind me. Both juniors. If I’m allowed I’ll say what high school they were from? I am just very careful not to break rules
You can say names here - we always have. It's more of an issue related to direct contact - I keep any conversations I may have very simple and surface stuff.

I'll go ahead and post this at the St. Joe's vs CCES game - it was senior night - so during halftime they honored the seniors - DT/OT Jacob Johanning has committed to Furman it was announced as a full-ride. Johanning was the man among boys playing at this level. He's listed at 6-3 255, Johanning looks bigger and already has a college body.

I'll be curious to see where he plays for Furman??? Johanning and Barton on the DL could be a force. But I was told by a teacher(FU Grad) that she thinks he's being recruited for the OL.

Also, Luke Bynum (QB) is reporting offers from Furman and Wofford, I think both schools are offering him preferred walk-on spot. SJCS runs the option and is coached by two ex Terrier coaches. I thought Bynum looked really good running their offense.

Worth keeping an eye on… Junior Rashad Luckey 5-11 225 running back. Luckey is similar to Stoddard who also played at St. Joe's. Luckey ran for over 240 yards and I believe four touchdowns against CCES. He has made a junior visit to Furman.
I don't pretend to understand recruiting, but QB is a position where we haven't heard a lot of information. I wonder if with Lincoln/Grainger/Sisson there's less of a need to use a scholarship at that position in this class. Maybe they go the walk-on route with a player (like Bynum) who has played in a similar offense and keep a scholarship for that position next year.

I think we'd like to get back to having guy spend a few years in the program before throwing them out with significant action.
Jackal, here is the clip of highlights from the SJCS vs CCES game… IMO Bynum would be a great walk-on pickup, he's also a high academic; http://www.hudl.com/v/2AgP6t

Looks like he would be a better fit at WC.

Just a reminder. Furman has a QB commitment, one Carter Bir from Flowery Mound, TX. Don't know if that means PWO, WO, partial or full scholarship, but he says he's a commit.

OK, can't remember their names but very nice guys w their dads. Juniors - the school was Dutch Fork High. Undefeated they said. One was the QB. The other is a TE/LB. Just starting to look they said as Juniors

Per Twitter, got a commit today from Douglasville, Ga OLB Josh Slay 6-1, 215

Had a ton of offers including Army, UNCC, Jax St, Kenn St, Miami(Oh), Mercer, Wofford, etc....
I count 25 offers… IMO a big pickup to match up with Jalen Miller and Austin Jones.

Hero Sports has a top 20 SoCon list as of October. Furman has three in the top ten, five total in the top twenty-one. My guess is Slay would be a top ten, probably top five, maybe the top recruit - Slay has 25 offers - 5 from FBS, I believe that's the most offers of any SoCon commit so far. Still, think Jalen Miller is underrated at #16.

I realize recruits have their own peculiarities about what drives them to a school, but if I were an offensive player, I'd love Furman's offense. QB does a lot, WRs get chances, RBs get chances, we use a traditional FB, use a TE, good offensive line coaches.

AND the kid has a 4.0 grade point average. Hendrix is going after and getting the right kind of recruits. He seems to be putting together one heckuva linebacking corps. Slay is ultra smart, fast and a devastating hitter. Looks like he'll grow into a 230+ pound missile in college.

This is where the depth chart begins.

Last season, Ak Olusanya (a converted safety) and Dillon Woodruff (a converted QB) were our starting ILBs in week 1. Behind them, there was Alex Burch, Tyler Voyles, and a couple of true freshmen, one of which is no longer with the program. McKoy was a high school defensive back and, as best I can tell, never played linebacker.

This year, you really only knew what you had in McKoy. Perryman was changing positions. Owen is converted from safety. Gilby and Hackett are freshmen. Voyles was injured.

Next year, though, McKoy is a junior and three year starter. Voyles looks like he expects to return. Perryman will be a senior. Gilby/Hackett will form a young core in the mix. You add these new talented recruits as well. That's a depth chart.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
