Better reg season record (22-9 vs 21-10) due to better OOC record.
SoCon record (13-5) one game behind last year (14-4).
KenPom ranked at #93 compared to #107 at end of last year reg season.

What a great run over these last 3 years. 38-16 in the SoCon compared to 11-41 the three years prior.

If we win the tourney I could imagine a 13 or 14 seed is reasonable.

If we don’t, I’d love to see another CIT run and hope maybe a matchup with Drake!

This will be the only time I mention the NCAA tourney because I really don't want to look past WCU, but that #14 seed in Nashville looks really nice, not a bad drive at all.

I wonder if all the NCAA scandal stuff would have any effect on this year's post season field. Could a few colleges simply decide to stay home? Doubt it but who knows?

Citadel's 5 conference wins were against Furman, Wofford, ETSU, Mercer, and UTC. They also had a 2-pt loss to ETSU. Baucom's gimmicky style is bad for consistency but does produce its share of upsets.

Thanks for posting this Paul. We've all nitpicked at times this year, but this is a damn good team that has a serious chance to win the tourney. Would love to have The Citadel game back for sure. The Tennessee game hurts the most and I would love to see us play Winthrop again. But overall, what an incredibly fun year. What's been even more exciting though is that I don't feel like we are losing the farm after this year. Will hurt to lose this senior class, but so many talented players returning and incoming. It appears we are building a true program instead of a flash in the pan. And don't forget something else that's super important ... with his first year of head coaching almost under his belt, BR will get better and better in that role. Very exciting stuff. We seemed to have done what is very tough to do, lose a really good head coach to a bigger program and actually have someone waiting in the wings that can keep it going.

I know UNCG is happy to get the #1 seed, but I imagine they are not terribly thrilled about seeing the Citadel potentially coming out of that bracket.

Good point. Even though I'm sure they would win, having to run up and down the court for 40 minutes is not the most ideal game to play in a tournament format.

I am always happy when Furman avoids the Citadel in the tournament. They can make most any victory Pyrrhic. Even beating them you can expend a lot of energy chasing them up and down the court. Hard to play them and play against the next night.

If memory serves, we beat the Citadel in 2015 in the first round - the season we went from a 10 seed to the tournament finals. My recollection is we raced out to a big lead in that game and were able to not play at the Citadel's frenetic pace. That saved a lot of our players for a long punishing tournament run.

Interesting what you see when you divide the SoCon into the top half (UNCG, ETSU, Furman, Mercer, Mercer) and the bottom half (Samford, WCU, VMI, Citadel, UTC) and look at the top teams records. All the top teams had a slip up to the bottom teams.

UNCG
6-2 vs top half
9-1 vs bottom half (lost in OT to Chattanooga)

ETSU
5-3 vs top half
9-1 vs bottom half (lost to Citadel)

Furman
4-4 vs top half
9-1 vs bottom half (lost to Citadel in OT)

Mercer
3-5 vs top half
8-2 vs bottom half (lost to WCU early and Citadel)

Wofford
2-6 vs top half
9-1 vs bottom half (lost to Citadel)

Six losses by the top five to the five teams below them in the standings is a low total. Actually, I think it is the same as last year. Chattanooga probably picked up most of them though.
