What’s the status of the proposed Timmons remodel?
Any chance baseball returns? Really miss it.
Thanks much.

1) What are his assessments and/ or projections of the short/medium/long-term impacts of the Transfer Portal, the NIL rule changes, and FBS (P5) consolidation on FU Athletics, particularly Football…of course.

2) Barring GUBMINT and/or SoCon and/or NCAA intervention, does he see it even remotely possible that FU will ‘lock down’ the campus again, ban on-campus tailgating, and/or limit/eliminate attendance at Football games this Fall due to Covid?

3) As there has been ‘movement’ in other FCS Conferences, is there any ambition among the SoCon and/or (any of) the member schools to make efforts to expand the SoCon to 10-12 Football Members?

4) Wildcard Question (for fun)…What are his thoughts on the Woffraud Teary-iers & the ChattaQuitta Mocks actions this past Spring regarding cancelling games they didn’t want to play and blaming it on Covid? How likely does he find it that 7 Teams were able to play as many as 8 or even 11-12 (Fall & Spring) games with no issues and 2 Teams were actually ‘forced’ to cancel almost half of their scheduled games?

…and, if so, why do the sheep seem so smilingly satisfied?

What is his overall mission / vision with athletics at this point? Does he see football as remaining fully funded?

ALSO, *** do we integrate (Combine) athletic and academic scholarships now? I heard that we used to but don't do that anymore?? If not, why not? That seems like it could be a real buzz kill to our athletic programs if we don't allow combined athletic and academic scholarships?

I think combining them may be against the rules. So we need to figure out a way to give some of that non athletic scholarship money back to boosters so they can use NIL to give the equivalent of scholarships. Maybe we can put scholarship money back into the general fund and then give scholarship-sized contracts to booster-owned companies for snow removal or volcano preparedness, etc. Then they use a similar amount of money (but not the same money) to pay for NIL of promising football players.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
