None of the above, or any of the above if want mediocrity, the correct answer is Cronic.
Which is the only answer you could give to maintain your preconceived position.
If we had Cronic, how can we chop down the Furman coaching tree? I thought we had to go elsewhere, or no? The only bad Furman coaching tree coaches happen to all coach at Furman, is that the idea?
Also, you know Mercer was 5-5 this year, right? One of those 5 wins was against UTC's JV team.
The grass is always greener in someone else's pasture.
FUBeAR always likes to be factually accurate...
* Mercer IS (not “was”) 5-5 in this Split Season (0-3 Fall & 5-2 Spring | 5-5 Overall & 5-2 in the SoCon).
* The Bears play @ Samford on Saturday & may finish (0-3 Fall & 6-2 Spring OR 0-3 Fall & 5-3 Spring | 6-5 Overall & 6-2 in the SoCon OR 5-6 Overall & 5-3 in the SoCon)
* If Mercer finishes 6-5 Overall & 6-2 in the SoCon AND CIT beats VMI, Mercer will be SoCon Champions & will claim the SoCon’s AQ bid to the FCS Playoffs. So, in that case, they will finish 6-6 overall if they lose their 1st round Playoff game. If they win a Playoff game, their record becomes too variable to go into here
* If Mercer finishes 6-5 Overall & 6-2 in the SoCon AND VMI beats CIT, Mercer may finish with those records or they may receive an At-Large bid to the Playoffs, as a few FCS pundits have posited...and the bullet above applies.
* As Furman did, Mercer played against the opposing Players that Chattanooga chose to put on the field. Mercer won the game over Chattanooga’s chosen Players. Chattanooga does not have a JV Football Team.
* While Coach Cronic has served on Furman’s Coaching Staff in the past, he is an Alum of and former Player for the University of Georgia.
