Over 1000 players have entered the portal. Quite a few are better than the ETSU guys. I don’t believe the 1,000 have entered the portal is a correct figure. Think about it that would be 3 per team. Not buying that one. Maybe football but not basketball.
According to Verbal Commits, there are , as of now, 1167 players in the transfer portal. That includes D2 schools.
Just because you don’t believe it, doesn’t mean it is not true. There are well over 1,000 names in the transfer portal. That is fact.
There have always been a ton of DI guys dropping down to DII. Seems like at least a couple of guys on every team are DI transfers. So this portal number may not be as crazy as it sounds. I’m just not sure anybody tracked the number before the portal.

Those numbers are pretty close to what I suspected. There was always a baseline that was higher than most would have expected, and now the numbers are increasing. I suspect much of the increase is in attempted moves up or sideways.
If you can, please dig up the numbers for how many of those portal guys successfully transferred. I wonder if the percentage will start dropping as the market gets flooded. Also, is anyone tracking how many are seeking and getting waivers? To keep it from getting out of hand the NCAA would need to keep that process legit. But there are guys out there who claim they can get pretty much anybody a waiver.
