How about CC? He saw a good bit of action for us at DB last year.

Would appreciate a name instead of initials. Thanks

We have one player that plays defensive back with the initials "CC"

I believe reference is to Cally Chizek. He did see the field a lot last season. Played well.

Ok so it doesn’t seem that hard to write out. Some people don’t know the roster forwards, backwards, alphabetical. by number etc like some, so it would take less time to type the name than make people go searching. :D

I expect he will or Kearse will start opposite Blackshear.

Chizik was primarily used, I think, as a nickel/3rd CB last year in some of our sub packages. He did really well in that role.

^^^ great job GoFu ;)

I think you have to include Jack Rhodes and Caden Richards into the two-deep mix.
Both enrolled early and they now have two spring practice season experiences.

Furman has three very talented freshmen safeties…

Austin Jones RSFR 5-11 198 Was an early enrollee in 2019 (had an injury early last year- Furman intended to play him as a true freshman) just a guess - Jones could grow into playing some Spur.

Jack Rhodes FR 6-1 191 early enrollee in 2020, Jack played six positions at Milton and was Region 5-AAAAAAA Athlete of the Year.

Caden Richards FR 6-1 185 early enrollee in 2020, I'm pretty sure Caden was the first to commit to the 2020 class. Richards is a true free safety.

If all three of these guys develop as expected this group along with Hugh Ryan (6-1 192) gives Furman a lot of length in the defensive backfield.

I also want to throw some sunshine on the guys that take PWO offers and work their butts off to make the team. Who are possible PWOs that could see PT in the 2021 double-dip season?

1. Dominic Ferrari RSSO Bandit (6-0 200) four tackles, forced a fumble in the Samford game.

2. Nick Kuzemka RSFR LB (6-0 202) Nick has already shown he will contribute - played in three games last season made six tackles before taking a redshirt.

3. Dan Scianna RSFR LB (5-10 198) Dan played against Point and took a redshirt in 2019.

* Wyatt Hughes RSFR OG/C (6-3 284) I'm pretty sure Wyatt is a PWO. Furman loves to rotate linemen - so Hughes could see a good bit of playing time during his career at Furman.

******

2020 PWO's

1. Blackmon Huckabee 5-11 180 WR (Clover HS) had a lot of D-2 offers and D-1 Patriot offers. Huckabee is a DeLuca clone and he ran a 4.53 at the Furman camp.

2. Nick Cannon 5-11 172 WR (Johnson Ferry) Nick put up big HS numbers; caught 54 passes for 1,108 yards and a school-record 15 touchdown receptions his senior year...totaled 1,856 all-purpose yards and 22 touchdowns

3. Will Hallmark 5-10 176 TB (Westminster) had several D-2 offers and some D-1 offers, also APSU might have offered a PWO.

I would think there would be some playing time available at the flanker behind Dejuan Bell. Last year that position was Thomas Gordon and Avery Armstrong, both of whom are gone. Bell seems like the clubhouse favorite for most of the snaps there, but we'll need a second.

Is everyone sure Bell will be the starter? Certainly has the talent but limited experience and only 5 career catches?

CCH has been pretty vocal about the play of Bell - in the spring of 2020 and this past fall/spring camp - I think he actually called out Bell as a difference-maker.

A few weeks ago Hendrix highlighted Bell as a "difference maker" on offense. https://furmanpaladins.com/news/2020/10 ... eason.aspx

In the spring game, Bell had 124 yards receiving and 3 TDs. Scrimmage game, sure, but primary WR target. https://furmanpaladins.com/news/2020/2/ ... mmage.aspx

Bell didn't play much last year for whatever reason, but he would have also been behind two seniors on the depth chart regardless.

I also think that DeLuca has experience at the Flanker position. So, it could be we see Deluca and Bell and then Henderson/Shiflett/et al at the Split.

OK, w Hodge leaving and roster updates how does the above list look?

WHere did I miss ??

One concern I have is we seem to have a ton of DE types and be slightly thin on NG/DTs perhaps?
