We’ll never get ahead of this until we get some real leadership out of Columbia instead of the “whatever Donald says”. Just read that South Carolina ranks #3 in news cases, WORLDWIDE!
With all due respect I think you heard that wrong. As usual NC and Ga both reported more new caese than SC on Friday. Just a little commom sense and you realize that Ga, NC and SC are not 1-2-3 in the world in new cases. Florida, California etc are in the 10k a day range.
Flag is right. “A Post and Courier analysis of pandemic data showed that South Carolina had the world’s fourth-highest rate of case increases, when also accounting for population size, over the past two weeks.” https://www.postandcourier.com/health/c ... ec987.html. It pisses me off that our fellow citizens are unwilling to do the right thing. Americans sacrificed for each other in WWII. Now, we won’t even do 3 simple things to bend the curve, wash our hands, wear a mask and practice social distancing. Sadly, the worst offenders are many of my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. I guess they have to blindly follow their “fearless” leader, Trump. Leadership starts at the top. Trump has failed to lead our country.

As for contracts, I’ve read several articles that a pandemic can make the contract null and void. There are still major questions concerning the contracts. This is a good read. https://www.toledoblade.com/sports/coll ... 0200424188

As for the season, assuming the SoCon has no money games this year, can we afford to play? With that income not available, most likely expenses will be more than income for every team. I contend we cannot afford to play this year.
Number of new cases and rate of increase per population are 2 totally different things. Carry on with the hysteria.
Thank you. Hysteria is what we need to save lives, have school, and play football. Carry on with your denial of the truth. Don’t forget to find out the latest advice from your umpire friend. That guy is hilarious.

This young man was determined not to believe the hype and hysteria. Warning, the language is rough. https://heavy.com/news/2020/07/richard- ... ssion=true

The article is a good example of why hysteria is bad. It leads to poorly thought out conclusions. The title indicates that mask use would have saved this guy. He almost certainly caught the virus in a bar. The pool setting is far less likely because it’s outdoors with probably a good breeze off lake Eerie. If you spend an hour in a crowded bar, a mask isn’t going to help much. That’s reality. The message should be to stay out of bars, but instead it’s all about the mask because somehow journalists think they have mystical powers. The thing that gripes me further is that almost every time I see an article about a young person dying, the picture shows the same characteristic. European doctors predicted the US would have lots of death not because of who the President is but because we are so damned fat. They were right. But we’ve got people believing all they need to do is wear the magic mask.

Record day. First young child death. https://www.wfae.report/breakingnews/sc ... ric-death/

“Today, we mourn the loss of one of our children to this virus. It is heart-wrenching to lose a child under any circumstances, and especially so during a time when we have all lost so much already,” said Dr. Joan Duwve, DHEC Public Health Director, in a press release. “Our state is in a dire situation and we will continue to mourn the loss of parents, grandparents, children, friends and neighbors until each and every one of us steps up to do what is right, not just for ourselves but for others.

“No one is immune to this deadly disease, but we each have the power to impact the path this pandemic takes in South Carolina. Choosing to wear a mask and maintain physical distance today will not only help change the course of the pandemic in South Carolina, it will help save the lives of those around us.”

I believe in the power of the mask. “Love thy neighbor.”

So I guess the Seniors are just done, right? Even if we had grad school you couldn’t keep them around or you wouldn’t be able to recruit.

I've to stay clear of these issues but cannot believe anyone on this board or anyone I know would ever be happy over the death of a young child. These are deadly serious times but what an alful thing to say. Prayers to that family and to every one dealing with this monster.

I found that comment so offensive I was physically shaking. I would not wish the death of a child on the worst Taliban terrorist.
To suggest that any of us would be happy about that is hateful.

You are right. I should not have said it. I deleted that sentence. I guess I’m just sick and tired of those that say the virus only affects older folks. But, that is no excuse. My apologies.

I'm a big believer in collective prayer can be powerful...Maybe we should all try it...It's worth a shot for each of us to pray this virus away...It certainly couldn't hurt.

DPLOT. Not only was Billy Hong the reigning Greenville County Amateur champion at the time of his death he also won the county in 1979. He was competing against local amateur golf legends like Dillard Traynham, CatHead Stroud, Tommy Biershenk, Frankie Impson, Barry Beeks, and Mike Gravely to name a few.
Cave, mr Hong was perhaps the most incredible person I’ve ever met. There are many stories out there about him. Regarding golf, I can remember like yesterday him telling me how he drove to Texas to speak with Ben hogan. He told me he waited for many, I think he said 6 or 7, hours before he got to see him. But when he did get to see the hawk finally well, no surprise, billy won him over. And yes, as someone wrote here, he loved to gamble on the course. And what was not written is that his smile lit up a room.

Regarding his tae kwon do school, you didn’t just pay the fee and start training. He decided whether he wanted to teach you. He didn’t care about money. He used to regularly give me my 20 dollar monthly dues back to me and told me to go have some fun. Billy taught military tkd. Not the crap that They teach today. To illustrate, He’d tell me, David if you’re gonna break a walnut with your foot, what part of your foot would you use? No little flipper top of foot roundhouse kicks. I’d return home north and train up here and people would be like where the heck did you learn this? There were some very good tkd teachers up here in nyc and NNJ, and a very slim few, taught same hard style. They all knew billy. Billy would get calls from Other tkd teachers from all over the country during class. He knew everybody. Btw, he always called me canoe feet. As I have Really long skinny feet.

I studied the flight 007 flight story thoroughly. There are some theories out there that there were survivors. And that they were then transported to a prison camp. I won’t say yes or no, who really knows the truth? But what I do know Is if anyone Was equipped to survive, it was billy. I believe he would be about 80 Or so years of age today.

I hope these Fond reminisces aren’t out of place here.

Rokaway, that was great. And you are right, Billy Hong was one of a kind. I hadn't heard the story about going to see Ben Hogan. I have a story about Hogan that many golfers have probably heard, but I'm going to retell it here.
Hogan owned a successful golf equipment company after his playing days were over and had many tour players playing his stuff. He was also known for being reticent and cold. Nine time major champion Gary Player played Dunlop equipment back in the late 60's. Player supposedly called Hogan to ask him a question. The conversation allegedly went like this:

Player: "Hello Mr. Hogan, this is Gary Player. I would like to ask you a question about the golf swing?"

Hogan: "Ask Mr. Dunlop." Click

I haven't looked but if this is true (and even if not, it is true in general!) what is it with Furman and how you find Citadel and Wofford stuff in 5 times as many stores as ours??? Seriously. This is a definite problem. If you want to get your name out there you need your product out there. Clemson is freakin' everywhere - Walmart, gas stations, etc. I will be near Litchfield and there is a store that always has Citadel and Wofford hats. My friends always ask me, "where is the Furman stuff "? It pains me.

I agree that right now we have bigger issues... however, this has been going on for YEARS. Should be remedied once COVID Is past

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
