Six years ago on the 4th of July my oldest son a USAF officer (and proud Furman grad)landed at Bagram AB Afghanistan for a 8 month tour of duty.Although I come from a family with a long line of military service the thought of one of my kids getting shot at was not one I had really ever envisioned ( I am sure there are others on this board who know exactly what I am talking about). I have looked at subsequent 4th of July’s differently since then. I am far more appreciative of what we have as a family and a nation. While we may disagree at times on how to make this an even better country there is no doubt in my mind that this is the greatest country on earth. So Happy 4th to my fellow miscreants on GoPaladins!
