Forbes or Miller would be great choices. Article stated Wake is only major conference school with an opening for a head coach. Good news for FU!

Miller would not even have to relocate.

What does this have to do with Furman basketball?

Would be nice if the Forum Index, in addition to FCS & FBS Football folders, presented one for NCAA Basketball.

Would be nice to see ETSU or UNCG lose a head coach, both teams have question marks coming into next season

With the article you just posted this thread now has everything to do with Furman. Richie is mentioned.
Yes. That is why I posted it.

Odd timing to fire Manning now. He has a guaranteed contract until 2025 and the buyout will be 15 million dollars. The size of that buyout will probably limit their choices. They probably won't try to lure a big name coach from another P5 conference. Mid-major coaches are the likely targets.

ESPN's writer thinks Steve Forbes and Wes Miller are the top two choices. He names four other regional coaches as other possibilities. Richey is one of them. Also named are Pat Kelsey of Winthrop (was an assistant at Wake for eight seasons); Ryan Odum of UMBC (son of former WF coach Dave Odum); and Earl Grant of College of Charleston (former assistant at Clemson.)

Miller would be an obvious choice. His father is a graduate of Wake Forest and the Miller family are big donors to Wake Forest. The practice court at WF has been named after Wes Miller's father.

One of our top competitors in SoCon appears close to losing their coach. That is 1 thing. It does not appear Wake will take our coach. That good news is a 2nd thing. Did you really not see either of those 2 things?

Honestly I did not. Miller is one hot head moment away from getting fired from basketball forever. He reminds me of the guy at LSU. Forbes cannot recruit high school players. I will be surprised if Wake chooses either one. Of course, Coach Richey would be a great choice for them, but they need a big name. Read their fan forum. Those are some crazy fans.

Funny thing is Woffy (and all their flopping) may have done us a favor by upsetting us in SoCon Quarterfinals, Richey would be much more of a candidate had he gotten us to the championship game or won the SoCon tourney

If Wake gets any input from Mike Buddie, I've got a feeling we can kiss Bob Richey goodbye.
