I have to admit I am growing weary of this topic. I suppose it’s inevitable, but dang. The cost and complexities have been discussed ad nauseum. I am sure all of these ideas, and more, have been considered. Bottom line: we need to continue to build financial resources for the program.
By the way, I am confident in saying that our current administration has stepped up their support of the program. But that’s only one piece of the puzzle. And do you really think Coach Richey WANTS to play 3 non D1 games?
Stay safe out there.
"I have to admit I am growing weary of this topic." I
I agree with you, except to say I grew weary of it years ago.
" I am sure all of these ideas, and more, have been considered."
One would think that to be the case, but there is very little, if any evidence, that they have been. (It seems to me.) Or at least, there is never any change in the situation. (It seems to me.)
"Bottom line: we need to continue to build financial resources for the program. "
I will agree with you about that being the bottom line. But the question remains: do enough people agree with you and me. Usually when increasing financial support is mentioned by posters on here, the status quo group immediately retorts with "you are free to write a big check".
"By the way, I am confident in saying that our current administration has stepped up their support of the program. But that’s only one piece of the puzzle."
I agree. Alumni support must increase. Alumni need to support Paladin Club and basketball in particular much more than they do. Community support must increase. And some one or some several very, very large benefactors need to show up.
"And do you really think Coach Richey WANTS to play 3 non D1 games?"
I absolutely do NOT think he does. I think it is reality, has he has apparently stated. The ONLY reason I listed all those near-by non-D1's was to point out that this is what we are going to have. My wish is that others would see that list, would communicate with others about it, would think about it, and would EVENTUALLY realize that we must do something or else be satisfied with those.
Sadly, I think Coach Richey will have the situation of having to play 3 non D1 games as something that adds to his decision to leave for something bigger.
