I agree with all of this. A win or two (or more) in the NIT would be huge for the program and put a nice bow on a fun season. A final four run to MSG would be huge, offering potentially more exposure than a round of 64 NCAA exit.DungeonRealm wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2020 2:06 pmThis NIT allows for more program growth indeed, remember we did CIT 2 years in a row, won 19 games in 2016 (with 1 win coming in CIT) then followed that with 23 wins in 2017 (2 coming in CIT, making it to CIT semifinals)
In 2018 we won 23 games but made a progressive decision that for the program it was NCAA's, NIT or bust, which is the right place for Furman to be in now.
Now fast forward and we get 25 wins in 2019 and make first NIT appearance since 1991, hoping our 25 wins in 2020 is enough to get us a second straight NIT appearance and possibly pull out some wins, P5 gives quality opponents in the field for us to go up against, and Madison Square Garden is still a fun opportunity for the final 4 teams.
Considering we only have 1 senior and will be not only loaded but probably the SoCon preseason favorite, all of this is gradual progress towards getting where we want to be, the sky is clearly not falling and everything is still looking very bright moving forward!
