Regardless of what happens in Asheville I think we are in the NIT but it wouldn’t hurt if the following teams won their tournaments as a little insurance. Several of these tourneys are already underway.
Vermont
Liberty-WON
E. Washington
Radford-LOST
UC Irvine
Hofstra-WON
North Texas
Wright St.-LOST
Yale-WON
Siena
Akron
NC Central
N. Iowa-LOST
Robert Morris-WON
Belmont-WON
Colgate-LOST
Stephen F Austin
Prairie View
N. Dakota St.-WON
Little Rock
N. Mexico St
ETSU-WON

Merrimack is ineligible for the NEC tournament since it is their first year in D-1. I’m not sure why that is a rule but it is.

Thanks didn’t know that. Looks like they are not even playing in the NEC tourney. Changed it to Robert Morris who is now the number one seed.

Number 1 seeded and current Ken Pomeroy #38 Northern Iowa is down by 12 to number 8 seeded and fellow Niko-dumpee Drake.

Drake wins. First 8 seed to beat a 1 in Missouri Valley history. UNI was probably the highest KenPom rated team from a one bid conference. The next highest in the MVC? Loyola Chicago @ 102.

Brutal loss for the MVC. UNI would have been an 11 seed or so like ETSU with a great chance to win a game or two. Now the league champ will be much, much lower.

Sometimes I wonder why we play the regular season. It seems weird that a team can work hard over 18 games, but risk getting knocked out of the Big Dance with just a single game in a weekend tournament.

Since they lost by 21 I guess they have no shot at a NCAA at large. I updated the list 0-1 so far. :(

Just looked they were #36 in the NET before the loss so they might have a shot.

Good news Belmont won their conference on a last second shot. Will update the OP with results. Need to pull on Liberty tomorrow.

Liberty won the A-Sun which is good. Watched most of the game. Was thinking that it must be a great feeling dribbling out the final seconds with a big lead knowing you are going to the big dance. Winthrop also won but that doesn’t really help. They kept putting on the screen it was their first tourney since 2017. 😳Wow a whole 3 years.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
