Also its a 100% fact that the only way you will ever get Furman students to the SoCon tournament is that 1) school will have to be in AND 2) Furman will have to be organized in busing the students to the tournament
Facts
Spring break begins on Saturday, March 7. There will be very few students on campus to bus.

Which is obviously my entire point, Step 1 is to get spring break to fall 1 week later (for 2021), Step 2 is to bus them to the tournament

There is no other scenario which will yield Furman students at the tourney, ever
At the tournament last year, we could see that the band and cheerleaders did not want to be there. All of their friends were at home or with friends on vacation. If I'm 18-22 years old, I would probably feel the same way. Let me go home. I'm with DungeonRealm. Change spring break week. Probably much easier said than done.

If the tourney is gong to move at all, there is not 1 single better place to move it than Bon Secours in Greenville
Unfortunately didn't the SoCon just sign a new long term deal with Asheville?

Iam 99% sure the current contract runs through this year and next year, so 2022 and beyond is up for grabs

The arena in Asheville is a dump. Hard to believe that the SOCON is proud having a tournament held here. Despite what DungeonRealm says, I don't think holding the tournament NE of Atlanta will attract any fewer people than Ashville and I think you will draw more fans from the ATL area as well as potential players. I also think Greenville is a better option than Asheville. Can Spring Break be moved? Sure, but the administration hasn't shown any interest in doing it thus far.

I have been to the Infinite Arena in Gwinnett many times. If it’s not in Greenville, Gwinnett would be my second choice. It’s a nice arena with most of the seats on one level so plenty of sideline seats. They have a very small upper level, only 5 or 6 rows IIRC. Easy to get to from Greenville as it is far up 85 from Atlanta and right off 85.

Based on the below driving distances from all schools, holding the tournament in Greenville would make the most sense. I still think Gwinnett (Atlanta) wouldn't be a bad option given that most of the driving miles are by interstate.

Traveling Distances:

Furman - 63 miles
UNCG - 173 miles
Wofford - 70 miles
Citadel - 268 miles
UTC - 219 miles
Western Carolina - 53 miles
Samford - 372 miles
Mercer - 248 miles
VMI - 285 miles
TOTAL: 1,812 miles

Greenville:
ETSU - 121 miles
Furman - 0 miles
UNCG - 189 miles
Wofford - 34 miles
Citadel - 213 miles
UTC - 250 miles
Western Carolina - 105 miles
Samford - 292 miles
Mercer - 186 miles
VMI - 345 miles
TOTAL: 1,735 miles

Gwinnett (Atlanta)
ETSU - 240 miles
Furman - 119 miles
UNCG - 306 miles
Wofford - 147 miles
Citadel - 330 miles
UTC - 132 miles
Western Carolina - 128 miles
Samford - 175 miles

The tournament could be in Birmingham and Samford would have the same crowd of 20 people there, I think they can be left off any mileage calculations :D

I think the Weekends at the Well series proves Bon Secours and Gville are ready to get back in the game of hosting Basketball, lets see what tomorrow looks like and go from there

Today showed me the 'Well' can be an excellent venue for a big time game and tourney

Both VMI's stand against UNCG and Samford's against UNCG today underscore what everybody's been saying all along: there will be no guarantees at this tournament.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
