Two of the last three offers are from NC. Justin Olson, 6-3 175 WR/QB, from N.Mecklenburg and Dominic Roberto, 6-0 230 LB/RB, from Fayetteville. There are others though.
Dominic Roberto’s HS coach (Matt Sochovka’s father) retweeted the coaches tweet so maybe that’s a clue it’s him.
Some coaches and 2019 recruits are also following him on Twitter.

Roberto is listed as both a FB/LB, though with two LBs already committed (I think), my gues is he’s coming to Furman as a running back.

Just watched his offensive highlights (http://www.hudl.com/v/28FSJW) and he may well be a steal. He’s listed at 6’0 230 and appears to have no other reported offers but Furman. He’s a physical runner with good speed out of the backfield.

Looks like a perfect fit for Furman’s RB position. The Paladins graduate two there this year (Dirks and Gibson), so it is definitely a position they will target in recruiting.

At the "Blue-Gray All American HS Combine" he measured at 6-0/224 and ran the 40 in 4.72. Did 19 reps of 185 and a 4.5 shuttle time. Watched his highlights and looks like a tough kid. I think FB/RB is his position as well..

Gonna have to work on those wheels a bit. FU’s Starting Center in 1982 ran a faster 40 time. Of course, he also weighed 15-20 pounds less than this young man does.

You can tell he can move well for a big guy.

Speculating, but I would wager he probably falls through the cracks as a bit of a "tweener" at the D1 level. He's a perfect physical profile for Furman's RB position, but probably would be a bit of a misfit on a lot of teams. I imagine there are not a lot of teams at the FCS level out there hunting for big physical north/south runners.

I’d be surprised if Antonio Wilcox was was any faster than 4.72ish. Dirks, yes. That kid might be the fastest guy >240lbs we’ve ever had.

I fell pretty comfortable with the idea that if this coaching staff offered a kid a scholarship, odds are he can run.

Comment from his coach

“He’s got a lot of hard offers from Southern Conference and Big South teams,’’ Sochovka said. “Furman likes him at running back, Elon likes him at linebacker.’’

In that case, I'm impressed that the only offer he bothered to put on Twitter was his Furman offer and then accepted it soon thereafter. Sounds like a guy that wants to be here.

Does that mean his coach regarded Elon as a Big South team?

Consider me surprised that we have a commit from Texas.

Air Force recruited TX HARD! One of the main reasons they did this was because TX HS blocking rules are/were the same as NCAA rules (unlike most all other states), so TX HS Players were far more experienced in rolling up LB’s & DB’s than other kids (& it is a dying art). I believe, in addition to having GA, Coach Hendrix had some significant responsibility for AF Recruiting in TX, because as OL/OC there, that type of blocking experience was most important to him.

So, with the relationships established with HS programs there, I wouldn’t be too surprised to see a few more Lone Star Paladins in the near future.

Even with connections to high school programs, still would be a pretty large effort for Furman to get coaches out to areas north of Dallas. Admittedly, Furman draws fairly well from Texas, especially the Houston and Dallas areas.

Not disagreeing with you, though. Air Force's roster from 2011-2012 (with Hendrix on staff) has a player from the same high school http://www.goairforcefalcons.com/sports ... oster.html

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
