Hughes was a 2star safety and this season is his first season playing tailback. At 5-11 208 he could play S or RB and he can play WR.

Gunn played RB/SB/WR my guess is he's a slotback - with Anderson, Thomas, and Gunn that's some speed.

Fingers crossed we get Jude Kelly from Altoona…

Just a few thoughts on the commitments.

Furman goes into 2020 with a bit of a different look at WR. Gone is Thomas Gordon, the excellent flanker. Avery Armstrong, too, quietly played a ton of football for us even though he was utilized far more as a blocker than a receiving threat.

Gunn and Hughes are a bit atypical. Both guys are excellent athletes with a lot of speed, but primarily played running back in high school.

Hughes, in particular, is a unique target. He's listed at 5'11 208, which would make him physically a closer comp to a tailback than a flanker (as listed, he is bigger than Watkins, Anderson, and Thomas).

This may be Furman's push to target a new type of player.

Remember, Furman loves to move slot receivers into the backfield. Quarles usually seems to be looking to screw of defensive keys and get a guy like Thomas Gordon matched up on a safety or linebacker. Both Gordon and Armstrong spent a lot of time lining up in the wing, though neither player was ever really a threat to run the ball. Armstrong, even though listed as a WR, rarely caught passes.

These guys may be sort of a new type of player that Furman is looking to utilize out of the flanker. WR/TB hybrid types that can move in and out of the formation, run the ball, catch passes, and block.

to your point Gunn played WR in the Tennessee East-West All-Star game - Gunn scored the first touchdown for the East squad.

Jude Kelley is a hot kicker - he keeps getting more offers. My guess is it's going to come down to Furman/Wofford/Villanova or he walks on as PWO at GaTech. An outside chance he stays in GA and goes to GaState.

Furman IMO is a perfect choice for Kelly.

Kelley can come in and kick as a freshman.
Furman has a long history of great kickers.
Furman has an incoming long snapper that would be his teammate - also from GA.
Kelley would be coming in with on paper a transformative freshmen class.

It would seem that Kelley is really the only loose end for the recruiting class along with preferred walk-ons who have offers out there.

Per his tweet Spencer Pankratz a 4* kicker from Colorado has committed.

Jude Kelley committed to Georgia Tech.

If he was a four star then we had zero chance anyway.

Furman also picked up a very good-looking PWO WR from Florida
>< Robby Goecker ><

Goecker also had a PWO offer from Chattanooga.
