That is a great point. The type you are speaking of is an asset. They can play multiple positions and we have seen what two years can mean for some guys (an extra 2" and 30 pds isnt uncommon) we are off to a great start. You never know how a recruit might impact the program down the road, and with the staff we have in place I think player development will be taken to the next level. The Jackal wrote: ↑Thu Jul 05, 2018 11:28 amArticle confirms, as you suggested, that he'll play safety.
My inclination is to watch the safety position as fall camp starts. Furman has 11 players listed at safety, and have added two more guys in this class that played that position in high school. I don't think they will all stick there.
In my view, high schools tend to put their most athletic players on defense at safety, giving them freedom to move, cover, and tackle. FCS programs tend to recruit that position heavily due to the athletic flexibility of those players. Some guys are a more natural fit for the position, while others can likely be deployed elsewhere.
