“In a perfect world, we’d have all 2,800 (students) go,” Donnelly said. “We want everyone to be a part of it. Every student has a ticket, and every one of them has guaranteed transportation to this.”

Donnelly envisions Weekends at the Well becoming an annual tradition, with some big-time opponents.

“We may have a chance to get some of the Power 5 schools who will never play in Timmons but will play at the Well,” he said. “So instead of playing Auburn at Auburn, maybe we have a chance to play Auburn (in Greenville) to broaden our national exposure.”

My guess is 2,100 to 2,500 absolutely max. Winthrop is not a drawing card even if they are a good team. Xmas season. I suspect it (folks in seats) will look sort of bad.

Kudos to channel 4 tonight. Lead story on the sports. Nice piece included scenes at the well and interview with CBR.
They will have another story tonight at 6:20.

Auburn was given by Donnelly as an example. It does NOT have to be an SEC team or an ACC team. I have suggested, on a previous post, many good examples of non-SEC/ACC teams that could be promoted equally well or in many cases better (or more economically).

In 2007 we played Davidson (Steph Curry) and College of Charleston in downtown Greenville, listed attendance for those two games was 2,984 and 3,572

How much smart promotion was there for those 2007 games?
What was the weather like?
The Davidson game was a Wednesday night.
The CofC game was a Monday night.
Furman’s W-L record was not very good.
I’m hoping for at least 3,600 for each of this year’s Well games.

I work downtown and am embarrassed by lack of information around about the games at the well. No posters, schedules, flyers or anything. I remember last year the athletic dept. marketing staff was downtown promoting games with the trophy etc. What’s happened?

I think this might be close. Really depends on students. Another thing is how many season ticket holders show up. If you have a Christmas party you could still go after the game. On Turesday I counted 1,969 tickets sold.

I hear ya but things like posters, flyers etc. are a thing of the past. Everything is electronic now. If you go to either the BSWA site or Furman site its the first thing that pops up.

So you are counting tickets in sections 101-104 and 112-115?

Students will be sitting on the floor seats, hopefully we can fill those up, then I guess the general admission section will add a few as well, but not possible to view how many of those are sold online.

Also they have just opened part of sections 100, 105, 111 and 116 for sale online as well

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
