Wofford peeps are also crowing about their unusually early haul of amazing commits. Not sure about the rest of the SoCon.
Reckon if this apparent trend is related to the early signing day? Could it be that FBS Schools are now being more ‘honest’ with kids on the ‘bubble’ resulting in them recognizing the value of and/or feeling the pressure to making a commitment to an FCS ‘committable’ offer before ‘the next guy’ does.
Or, maybe it’s just the results of last season for Furman & Wofford.
Or, maybe it’s the new energy of essentially new Staffs in both places.
Or, something else or something ‘elses’
Or, just coincidence(s).
What y’all think?
Just my observation, but it does not appear that Wofford is getting commits from guys with Furman offers. It does appear that all of Furman commits had Wofford offers.
Looking at their roster, Wofford has 16 seniors and 18 juniors. They lost a bunch of starting players off last year's squad, and will turn over most of their roster the next two years. I expect those figures warrant them pushing for a bigger recruiting class for 2019. By comparison, Furman has 11 seniors.
I am less impressed by the sheer number, though. Some of Furman's worst classes were the biggest. It turns into a grab for every available warm body willing to suit up for your football team, and sometimes you only get 4 or 5 contributors out of a 17 or 18 person class.
