Yes - OL & D-Front must play their best games.purplehorse wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2019 10:27 am100%. We need execution by the entire team including both LOS. I think most of us mean that if our QB is missing our receivers with errant passes then our chance of winning greatly diminishes.Davemeister wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2019 9:57 amI keep hearing that we will win if we get good QB play. That is true, but we ain't gonna get good QB play if we get the kind of OL play we got against Cit & Woffy.
From the OL, we will need MAX effort & RESULTS on backside cutoffs (every play) & no less than a stalemate @ POA - cannot let their DL FatBoyz penetrate or re-set the LOS -1 yd at snap. Blitz pick-ups (by OL & RB’s) must be on-point. APSU will send LB’s, Safeties, & CB’s with some regularity & rely on their athleticism on the back end to play Cover 0/Cover 1. We have to be able to make them pay for that tactic & that starts with blitz pick-up LONG BEFORE we get into the QB finding the open target & accurately delivering the ball to him. Go watch the Murray State game & watch how they heated up the Racers QB. Can’t happen on Sat.!
D-Front cannot be ‘punked’ by their OL. They have at least 2 SEC transfers starting in there & they will try to play thru the echo of the whistle & set the tone for the game. D-Front (includes LB’s & rolled down Safeties, BTW) MUST set the ACTUAL tone early. They must play hard, fast, and nasty...through the echo of the echo of the whistle.
