OK so we continue the 2 QB rotation. If not who gets the start. Didn't really see anything to separate them today. Both were 3-5 passing with Grainger throwing the one TD but Sisson tripled him in yards. Grainger did have the one turnover. I don't think CCH likes the 2 man rotation so it may come down to who has the best week in practice.

Don’t know but we need the Georgia State Darren Grainger or the UTC Hamp Sisson to show up in the playoffs. If that happens I believe the “good” Furman team will show up and can win a few games.

Both are certainly capable. They have shown it. As you said Grainger v GSU and Sam. Sisson great v UTC. Oddly enough both did better ON ROAD and in tough setting and early games. Grainger At GSU. Sisson Coming in somewhat cold and w team behind at UTC. Little oddity

You would think they would do best at home and in later games. Later meaning later in year... not their first game or two or at GSU or v Chatt for Sisson

I thought the qbs did very well today, the last regular season game, at home, and not their first games. Just from what I observed.

The old saying is that if you have 2 QB's then you don't have 1 QB. I don't totally agree that this necessarily applies in our case; however, we need one of our QB's to lock down the position and continue to improve into next year. We have 2 good players, but we can't have the inconsistency that we have had this year if we expect to make some noise next year. A lot of Woffy's recent success was because that QB was there for about 8.5 years.... GO FU!!

The remarkable thing about our quarterback situation is that there isn’t much difference in their skill sets, i.e. one a runner and the other a passer. Both can run and pass. Our QB’s aren’t used as situational players as is the case with most 2 QB teams.

I truly think what our coaches do on offense is pretty remarkable.

Think of this - we rotate five running backs almost constantly during the game. Three are freshmen. One is a sophomore.

Both QBs that rotate into the game are freshmen.

The centers rotate. One is a freshmen.

The fact that our offense isn't a version of keystone cops with that many freshmen on the field at one time is staggering. I don't recall a fumbled snap or handoff all year. Very few times have we had to take timeouts because everyone isn't lined up correctly. Occasionally you'll see a guy run the wrong direction.

also, add McKinney into that rotation and I bet against APSU we will see Johanning and maybe Toomey (I think he has one game to play).

No question about it. This staff gets an A + for recruiting and development of players. That will translate into a lot of wins.

I like Hamp. He's tough and is quickly becoming the type of QB that does well at Furman. The Blazejowski type. But I firmly believe that Grainger's skill set and athleticism are on a different level - a level we're not used to (at least on our sideline). He just needs to take the next step, mentally. I think he can do it, but we're still very early in his career. In both of their careers.

Obviously I want the QB that gives us the best chance to win to play, and I think we have two that are capable of making that happen.

And I'll say this - I think the gameplan we used against Georgia State should be the default, especially against a stout run defense like Austin Peay. Georgia State was expecting us to run, so we spread the field on them. Plan for Darren to throw the ball 25 times instead of 12. Give him room to make plays on the ground and in the air, and take the pressure off our running game.

It's easy for me to say that, I realize. And Darren's got to hit his receivers for it to work. But I have confidence in him. And I have more confidence in his arm than I do in Hamp's (again, not a knock on Hamp).

I agree with your assessment of Darren Grainger re his skill set and athleticism and his great potential. Its difficult for a young QB to develop the next step you spoke of - the mental side...or decision making ability - without more experience. I think the ability to remain calm comes with more experience. I feel it is hard for either of these young guys to carry the load in a playoff situation but I think it is essential that one of them step up with a really good performance for FU to get by APU and deeper. Let's hope the next step comes for one of them on Saturday because without adequate QB play, we have not been very good. I would think that APU will try to make us pass the ball and open the play book all the way.
