Gotta wonder if CCH thought of making a switch at QB. End of the day he went with the best option to win.

Trying to look at things on the bright side here. If Furman has to lose a SoCon game, this is the one. This has got to wake up the team so this doesn’t happen again. Wake up the defense to defending the option. Wake up the coaches to playing calling. Wake us up to looking past the next game. I’d much rather lose to a team that already has two losses instead of losing to UTC or Wofford (looks like VMI will get their 2nd loss tonight if Mercer holds on). We know there’s no room for error. Maybe we play better that way?

One of the most disappointing things I saw today was in the stands late in the game, watching a former player stomp up and down the aisles, cussing loudly and flipping birds at the other side, throwing a tantrum like a 2-year old.

Gentlemen, relax. Let's refocus and get it together for the remainder of the season. Our effort today was very suspect and reminded me too much of the Kennesaw State fiasco a few years ago. The body language was poor and the execution was worse. This was remarkably disappointing given the stakes in the conference, coming off a bye, Homecoming, and the opponent. Yes, our defense played well at times, but we were outplayed in all three phases of the game. I am not sure what was wrong with D. Grainger today, but he played almost as if he was nursing an injury or something..? I really don't know exactly what to pin this abortion of a game on, but we better get it out of our heads FAST!!!!

Bad game from start to finish. We got whipped in every facet of the game. However this is a good coaching staff and a talented young team. I fully expect not to see anything like this game the rest of the season.

Have played 4 conference games. Have lost two of them both at home and one common denominator was that both against Citadel and ETSU Grainger had an off day passing. In both games it was evident that when we become one dimensional, other defenses can stop us (14 and 17 total points).

We have beaten 2 middle-of -the-Conference teams (2-2) and an 0-4 team.

Need to step it up to win out.

Had a little too much, LOL. This was the first conference loss. We are 3-1, not 2-2.

Yeah ETSU just seemed like a loss, like the game today seemed like a 50-0 blowout

Defense played OK.
Running game started strong but slowed after we proved we couldn't hit open receivers.

Fairly early in the first half I started wondering why we weren't just running the ball every play. Tough, tough game for Granger. He really struggled in the rain and wind.
In the second half especially we seemed to be running up the middle most of the time when we ran it. Why didn't we attack them on the edge more. Maybe field position had something to do with that. I need to find the video and see if my initial thoughts were correct.

5 for 25 will result in a loss almost every time.

OOPS.

I meant that we have played poorly in two conference games and well in two. Thanks for correcting me.

That is funny. No drinking just multi-tasking. The point was we have played well in two conference games and poorly in two and the poor games Grainger was off.

But maybe if I start drinking tonight I will wake up tomorrow and think we won.

You know, I'm glad he stuck with Grainger. For a few reasons:

1. Coach's confidence. It was nice to see that even when things looked really bad out there, the coaching staff still said "you're our guy."

2. Development. Remember, Grainger is a freshman. Outside of Wynn, our entire offensive backfield rotation are freshmen and one sophomore. These guys are going to have to learn to play in tough games like this. It could well be that yesterday's game helps us win a tough contest a year or two from now.

3. Conditions. The passing game stunk, but late in the game the conditions weren't exactly helping. Not sure Sisson would have fared any better.

yeah, I see this one both ways. I mean, Sisson needs to be ready too.. so we need him getting meaningful snaps. On other hand, w both QBs as RFR they both need practice. And I heard people boo on a few short passes right before first half ended but I fully understood what we were doing there - trying to get Grainger CONFIDENT again. I liked the throw to Gordon (I think Gordon) that was a screen ... just something to get a completion

I am like you all. Hope Grainger isn't hurt as that was the weirdest passing display in terms of just missing guys who were WIDE open by throwing short etc. And it wasn't really raining in first half

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
