That is awesome. Funny I was thinking about DG today and wondering if he had ever played QB in wet weather? I don not think he played in a rain game last year and have no idea if he did in high school.

Yikes. This was a big time jinx. Never in my life seen those type of passing numbers. Had no business passing at all in that weather if we are being honest.

The weather wasn't really a factor until late. We had 44 yards passing and the Citadel has averaged giving up 248 yds passing and that includes the Ga. Tech game who hardly threw it at all. I think this could turn out to be the worst FU passing team in a long time. 7 games in and we are still south of 1,000 yds.

Other than Thomas Gordon, we have nobody else to pass to. DeLuca is a preferred walk-on that's starting. We need some better receivers - I said that before the season started, and that was before Bell went into hiding.

Deluca has been just fine.

We had a starting WR transfer this season, another key player that hasn't played a snap, and another player who transferred in out with injury most of the season. I am sure that created an unexpected hole.

but no one talked about the 'hole' until today.. that's what I keep getting at - we ought to discuss weaknesses on our team regardless whether after a win or a loss. Just because we win doesn't mean we should gloss over weaknesses

Totally agree. I've said this all year. There is a glaring weakness at WR regardless of the reasons. Let's face it our WR's are not hard to cover. On top of that we may as well be playing with an extra tackle or 2 as we totally ignore the TE(s). Of course we could have had Jerry Rice today and it wouldn't have mattered. Are we even averaging 10 completion a game?

Our receivers are just fine. They were open time and again today. We had guys leaping and spinning trying to catch what should be easy short and medium range passes. We had one pass bounced to a man about 8 yards away. Fine for basketball, not so good on the football field.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
