ETSU deserved to lose. Very poor coaching. Had the ball with over 2 minutes to go and just ran the ball up the middle. This after they used all their timeouts on UTC previous drive which they missed the FG. UTC got it back with over 2 minutes to go and goes down and kicks the game winning FG.

That was an ugly game. ETSU offense in second half was terrible and hence no points. UTC defense looked pretty good and their freshman running back Liam Ford looked very good.

Chatt was better. YDS - 428 Cht 272 ETSU. Chatt fought through a -1 TO ratio. And Chatt missed three FGs and I think an XP and STILL WON. Chatt is better than ETSU at least tonight. Man, ETSU from conference champs to 0-4 .. wow. granted, I do think ETSU has played the top 4 teams in the league to start:

Furman
Woff
Chatt

UTC @ Wofford next weekend will be interesting
Big game for SoCon. If Woff loses they are out of running w 2 conf losses. Then the big game is us v Chatt. If Chatt loses they both have one conf loss and either could take a tiebreaker from Furman w win over us

So I think we pull for Chatt to win - agree? That eliminates Woff from contention. Though Woff winning prob gives a top25 team in our resume

Was hoping this would be an elimination game for both. Now it is an elimination game fro WC only.

Wasn’t really that close - Mocs missed three field goals and an XP.
Hmmm.. It was tied with 15 seconds left. That's pretty close. ETSU also missed some scoring opportunities particularly going for it on 4th and one at UTC's 15 late in the game and had a terrible play call. Trying to run wide to the short side of the field is always a bad call.

I predict Wofford will beat UTC next week with ease!
not sure about w ease but I think Woff is favoredd. its at Woff. They are getting better each week. Granted UTC beat ETSU and that validated them to me as honestly UTC really was better than score. coulda easily been 20+ -14 or so if they hit FGs. If you can beat ETSU like that you have a real shot at Woff.

Agree woulda been nice if ETSU won - then next week woulda eliminated either Woff or UTC. Either way the game helps us - either eliminates Woff ;) sweet. or puts both Woff and Chatt w one loss and pushes Woff to top 25 iffy status which helps us too

A great opportunity for ETSU to tag UTC with a loss-which would be great for Furman. UTC beating ETSU would be meaningless for Furman.
UTC won late.

It’d be nice to saddle UTC with a loss, but it also helps furman beat a more highly ranked moc team in a few weeks. Next weeks Wofford/UTC game is a big one.

UTC’s freshman running back is the real deal.

Furman will win out. We need for Woffy to be a top 25 team when we beat them.

There's no lack of confidence in the Paladins around here. I've got the fever too and feel like there's a good chance we win out. But it worries me that there's still a lot of football in front of us, and a lot can go wrong between now and the end of the season. One major injury could change things dramatically. If the fans are feeling this good about things, I imagine the team is, as well, which is great for playing with confidence, but can create a trap, too. Take nothing for granted!

I'm of dual minds about this.

I've seen us marvelously blow games over the years. Furman, for a long time, raised losing to an art form. So, I'm not fully ready to walk with such swagger. I've been around long enough to watch teams I thought were really good lose with style (it's happening weekly in the FCS).

At the same time, I've watched the rest of the conference, and Furman, if playing sound football, is going to be really tough to beat.

I think the last two years have been building to this - these guys know that they want to win this conference outright. They don't want another team getting the autobid by default again. We've been a play or two away from outright titles the last two seasons, and this team, I think, isn't going to let that opportunity pass by.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
