Amazing how many Missouri Valley, Big Sky and CAA teams are in the top 25 of all the FCS polls. Meanwhile Furman is the Southern Conference representative.
No use finger pointing there - we own that one.

The SoCon scheduled winnable OOC games and fell flat on their faces to begin the season. Wofford has no business losing to SCSU. Samford got trucked by a MVFC in Montgomery, and then lost to an OVC team they should have beaten. The Citadel had a couple of shots at CAA teams, and botched both of them.

I think the talent right now in the FCS is about an inch deep and a mile wide, but the SoCon didn't do itself any favors by looking awful out of the gate when there is so much movement in the polls early on.

For Wofford, their only real shot at a marquee win this season is to beat either Furman or Clemson. I'll let you guess which one they'll be gunning for.
right. no blame anywhere but for our conference. VMI doing well in conference but loses to Bob...
the only good wins were ETSU (0-3 in SoCon) beating top 20 Austin Peay. that is looking better. Citadel beating CSU and then GTech. Furman beating CSU and then playing so well v FBS. all the others are junk - needed Mercer to beat Austin Py or Woff to beat SC State or...
We’d best not talk down any SoCon teams. We could end up looking “run of the mill”, or at least upset, after some of our upcoming games.

Affirm, I agree with this. thus my theory of every game: "I am scared of everyone" . The better the opponent the less bad the loss or the better the win. I hear Citadel beat Georgia Tech so we are scared. And if we do beat CItadel we are easily better than most of the ACC .

In all seriousness, just witness UGA USC proof of any given saturday. Bet UGA didn't think they would lose that one... (and they are better than USC and will stay ranked higher and win more games which is all that matters) Hate USC fans that say that one win is all that matters.. if that is the case which team of UGA USC can play in a big bowl? It AINT USC.. LOL- "wait til next year".)

Anyway, for those that find this interesting for fun purposes only - Furman is 17 point fav on Citadel.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
