My guess is that Nicholls didn't even submit a bid, not sure if Furman really "outbid" them.
Good point

This would make sense. Wasn't 2005 the year of Katrina, so Nicholls came to PS after playing like 9 games all year? They might not have even been able to host a game if they had wanted to.

So keep showing up. Invite friends. That's about all you can do.
My strategy for getting extra people out is to set up a good tailgate--early--every game, and everyone who knows me knows all they need to do is show up. Some just come for the tailgate, others will buy tickets. I consistently have people with no Furman connections at the game with me. Lots of them return, and some turn into basketball fans too.

That said, I've got six non-Furman people trying to come to the game with me this week. Three of them want to sit in the hospitality zone--where my tickets are. Apparently that section is sold out for this week. Does anyone have or know of any extra h-zone tickets for this week?

Update on the ticket sales: If my math is correct and I think I am very close. There are around 3,200 seats available on the home side not including the 2 sections for students and band. If you add in the 200 or so in the press tower and the app. 1,675 designated for the ban and students that would be about 7,000 attendance for the home side. Add maybe 1,500 Citadel fans and cadets and you are looking at about 8,500 peeps Saturday. Of course the student/band section will not be full so drop that down to about 7,800. Of course there are still 3 days until game day so more tickets will be sold and hoping for a good walk up crowd. Of course we don't make it easy for walk ups.

If we announced 7,600 for the Mercer game I am sure we can get much closer to 10k than that for this Citadel game. Citadel fans/cadets will amount to a lot more than what Mercer had, plus FU will show much better with us being ranked #8 in the nation and it being homecoming, all we really need is the weather to turn out fine on Saturday which remains to be seen.

At least nobody will suffer heat stroke this Saturday.
As was possible at Samford.

Yep been watching the weather for the last week. Most long range forecast had a beautiful fall day, sunny and low 70's. Of course we knew that it would change as it always does and it has now calling for 50% chance of showers in the afternoon. Should still be ok for the game. Subject to change. Accuweather still shows sunny and comfortable. The doomsday twins on channel 4 still show a nice day Saturday with rain late. I will be there regardless. :D

I'm not sure why I was getting the "sold out" message yesterday, but hospitality tickets are definitely available today. My six non-Furmans will be happy.

I always hear different things on rain affecting passing game vs running game. sure seemed to favor Furman's north south running game in Western game two years ago... thoughts on that ? What does rain favor? what type of game> curious

The one thing I do know is it hurts attendance and thus home field advantage as the Cadets will come anyway but our casual fans will not com if raining

Right now rain is not expected during the game as they say rain arriving late. Of course they could miss that and they usually do. Was hoping for no mention of rain Saturday to encourage attendance but looks like that is not happening. The forecast will change 10 times between now and Saturday.

Like I said it will change. Now 70% chance of rain beginning early and becoming steady. It has gone from sunny to rain in less than 12 hours. Why do they even bother with "extended" forecasts?
Weather.com Rain 70%
Accuweather Mostly sunny and comfortable.
Take your pick.

Weather Underground (used to be Intellicast) has around 40-45% chance of rain at game time, increasing to over 68% after 5 PM. This morning game time rain chances were much lower. High temperatures in the low 60s.
