Hard to tell about WC. I think they are a good team but man their schedule has been ridiculously soft so far. This week they get a bye and have a bye next week when they play WCU at home. ETSU is by far the best team they have played since the 2 early losses. They have had a pretty easy schedule to "practice" against with not much pressure of any chance of losing so that should help them. They play at UTC on the 26th which again I think is a decent team but who knows.
Wofford never has a particularly difficult schedule. They've played Gardner Webb something like 6 years in a row.
I think they will be a good challenge, but nothing Furman shouldn't be prepared to meet.
I hope they keep winning and get back into the top 25. It'll make a win look better and a loss less bad.
Right. If we lose and Woff is top25 it’s not a bad loss. Better for SoCon. They would then move to top20 and a 9-3 FU team w two FBS losses and one FCS loss to top 20 is in.
To the point of Woff playing no one I agree w exception of ETSU. Furman w two FBS is the only team that has played anyone (Samford and ETSU are ok) as unfortunately the whole SoCon is pretty easy right now. Our next games are Cit and western ...
Any loss to a SoCon is a bad loss.
Woffy will not finish in the top 25 no matter what they do. We need to win out to control getting into the playoffs.
Gman, you know your stuff but that statement doesn't make sense. Hear me out:
Not denying I would rather hope Furman wins out... but what you say is quite a statement. I hesitate to say 'never' or 'always' or '
no matter what they do'.
So taking you literally -
you are saying if they won out (other than Clemson) and thus beat Furman they wouldn't be top 25? that's carzy - they are 34th now.. just winning out vs anyone will have them near top 25. Put Furman in there and they are absolutley top 25. no way a 8-3 Woff that ran off 7 wins (other than Clemson) and beat Furman - I mean beating Furman is in the assumption when you say
'no matter what they do' - is not top 25. I guarantee they would be if they won 8-3 and had a win over top ten Furman! that's a no brainer there
Literally - If Woff wins two or three more straight (and they should vs Western and Chatt and Mercer losing to Clemson) they will be 6-3. Already they are ranked 34th or so in both polls. winning three straight FCS will have them near top 25 when we play them. Why? one just on record. Two, the lower you are ranked (they are 34th) the easier it is to climb in polls as some of the teams near them will lose.
I just don't get how you can say no matter what they do they stay unranked? if Wofford beat every team (except Clemson) - so that includes top 10 Furman ! - they wouldn't be a top 25 team ???

Woff is 33rd in STATS at 3-2 having played only ETSU

Woff is 35 in coaches at 3-2. Get to 6-3 with the loss to Clemson and they may be top 25 the week we play them! It's sort of the literal view vs the eye test. Literally I don't see how they wouldn't be ranked at 6-3 which they will be favored to be vs Westrn and Mercer and Chatt
