Interesting they are predicting a CBI/CIT bid for the 'dins.
That would be a huge disappointment. Although I can't see BR signing up for one of those tournaments again. I believe it's NCAA/NIT or bust.

Any preseason list that has Wofford winning the very stacked socon is just plain outrageous. You can not lose 3/4 of your post players, your leading scorer, head coach and top 2 recruits and repeat as champions in this league. This list will not convince me otherwise.

I much prefer being underestimated. After having just lost four seniors, at this time last year I'd already chalked-up 2018-19 as a "rebuilding year". I suspect our first twelve opponents thought so, too.

Yes but they have a fairly new building, LOL. Looking at their home schedule it looks like that newness has already worn off.

If Wofford is indeed the pick for #1 in the SoCon that would be a rather lazy choice.

The past four years the Terriers finished 5th,5th,5th, and 1st in the Pomeroy rankings for SoCon teams. They had a fantastic season this past year and deserved their success, but recent history doesn't point towards a 1st place finish this year after losing so much of their talent. They not only lost 58% of their scoring but also 60% of their rebounding and 86% of their blocked shots. And Cam Jackson was their best ball thief. He had almost twice as many steals as anyone else. I foresee probable problems on defense for them.

Maybe the raters see big production from Nathan Hoover this year. But he may find that being the #1 focus of the opposing defense is a different situation than #3 focus.

I was hoping for a top 75 rating for the Paladins but #91 isn't too bad.

Like most pre-season polls the previous season plays a big role. Don't believe they do a lot of research or 40-thought to teams below the top 40-50.

Wofford was picked #74.

With all their losses on offense and defense (and coaching) I think they will have a tough time finishing 4th. Samford and Chattanooga could both challenge hard for a first division finish. If Mercer's big man transfer comes through the Bears will also be in the mix.

Alabama appears today at #26. Interesting, as KenPom closed-out last season with them at #64 and FU at #59. What's not surprising though is that coming off a Final Four appearance Auburn has yet to appear in the Top 144 Countdown (remember collegesportsmadness has FU at #91). Looks like we're getting bites at two juicy apples: https://www.collegesportsmadness.com/me ... 4-previews

Picking WC that high after losing their 2 best players and coach really diminishes the validity of this source.

Diminished validity of the ranking, at least. The write-ups appear thorough, however, and will be a fun resource for us come gametime.
