Just got an email from DC saying they are running a special $10 priced ticket for the visitors side for the Citadel game. That sounds like a good idea but I see a problem. If you click on the link you can buy tickets for $10. The problem is like most of you I have tickets. Yet if you are not on DC mailing list and you go to the ticket site the price is $25. Aren't we missing the target here? Why not make the $10 ticket available to the general public?
For basketball?

Yeah this is football related, guess a moderator can move it

I like the idea of having cheaper priced tickets on the visitor side for the general public to purchase, I am tired of seeing a mostly empty Paladin Stadium, we are ranked #11 in the country and hosting one of our big rivals Citadel on Homecoming! If the weather turns out nice dang it we better have a big crowd out for this one!

There's finally enough excitement on BOTH the Football & Basketball boards to generate confusion about which board we're on to clamor for tickets.

You could give away tickets on the visitors side and sell dollar beers and it wouldn't fill up.

Does not need to be filled up, just needs more people over their period, and on the home-side as well for that matter

We use to have tobacco free kids day/night and Greenville county schools ect. day/night over there and actually had some butts in seats, but we did away with those promotions and have had basically nobody sitting over there since, especially since we don't play GSU and App St. anymore. We should look into bringing back some of those promotions again or even something new, the only team that travels well to Paladin Stadium anymore is Citadel when they bring the cadets and that's it, we need to do more if we want a great atmosphere in the Dungeon again.

I hope we have a great crowd for Homecoming on Oct. 19th, we have a top 15 team, but if you check the tickets sold website to this point the sales are pitiful, we need to step our game up, and that goes for all of us, Furman Admin, marketing department and everyone else who cares deeply (counting us), we can do it!

I feel like this comes up every year, and we always say the same thing: bring back promotional tickets for Greenville Co kids (scouts, schools, Churches, pee wee leagues, etc.), give away tickets, or discount tickets to the away stands.

I know DC reads and posts here and each year it does seem he is trying something new to help market the team. They’ve added the end zone tent thing, offering pregame field passes, and now discount tickets for away stands. I’m all for it, but agree we need to make sure this is an option when the public is buying tix online or as they walk up. He’s doing a lot to help football (not to mention all the other sports). We sure could use some help from visiting teams like WCU and Wofford when they travel to Furman but that may be hoping for too much.

We need to do a lot more, we are a top 15 team and had 5,000 in the stands for the ETSU game, that means 11,000 empty seats, we need to step it up big time in the creative promotions department to start drawing folks back to Paladin Stadium again

Bring back free or heavily reduced tickets on the visitors side. Open up the home side parking to the general public. There is a ton of open parking not being used every game. Every time I go to a game I see people trying to go into PS on the home side only to be told they have to go to the other side and they turn around. Do they actually go to the other side and pay to park or do they just go home? I think many just go home. For years people could park on the home side and there was never a problem. Now if someone that used to go to FU games decides to come back, they get slapped on the wrist and told you are not welcome here, go to the other side. Sorry just a pet peeve.

The game is still over a week away so hopefully sales will pick up but it looks bad right now..

I agree there’s a ton to be done that may not be happening now. I think the heavily discounted ticket is a good idea to fill the other stands, streamline parking is a great idea, and I think everyone would agree consistency on the field is the most important thing we can do. I’d say the biggest thing to do is work partnerships with opposing teams and the city of Greenville. If it was me, I’d be contacting opposing teams marketing folks to offer deals to get those fans to Furman. Greenville sells itself as a destination, and could be leveraged to get people engaged for a whole wkd. Offer packages for a game, a hotel, and a discounted event. Obviously that takes a partnership with the city and local businesses but seems like a no brainer. There are plenty of events in Greenville throughout the season that could be used to get local fans to the games. “Buy 4 tix for away stands get half off a ______ at _________.” Fill in that blank with whatever you want: fall for Greenville food, artistsphere tickets, hockey game drinks, etc. It’s just too easy for the casual fan to watch these games on the couch or follow the score on the phone. Find a way to partner with the things that do get them out of the house, and build on that.

I’d be happy if we could get 8K ppl to HC and 10K ppl to a home playoff game this year. That’s a far cry from attendance in the early to mid 2000s, but you have to set that bar somewhere. We aren’t going to get those folks back overnight. Stay ranked, promote an affordable and family friendly environment on game day, market rival games, and engage the alumni base that is growing in Greenville. Then we can get excited about crowds over 12k again.

I’ve deleted several of the posts that quoted and thus preserved the post from Joey that was unfairly critical of Dwight Covington. That kind of post calling out any individual is unacceptable on this board.

I sure miss playing Ga. Southern and Appy. They brought lots of fans and our fans were excited to play those teams. I’m afraid FCS football is quickly losing its appeal. Proof of that is the declining trend in attendance.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
