It's early still, but Furman very much controls its destiny.

Villanova plays at James Madison this Saturday. Montana and Montana State will still play one another. NDSU and SDSU will still play each other.
If that’s the only loss each pair has rest of season I don’t see any of them dropping out of the Top 10.

UC Davis is now 2-4 and has lost 3 in a row and still ranked #21. Just goes to show you how hard it is to drop from the poll. There were also no new entries in the poll. Just goes to show you how important it is to be ranked at the START of the season.
It will not be hard for Furman to drop.
We cannot count on special treatment like UC Davis gets.
The only way we can move up in the rankings will be to win each game.
Beat Citadel.
If we slip up against anybody, which is of course possible, then shake it off, get back up, and win the next game.
Respond appropriately to any loss and to any win.

A 10-2 Paladin team with the SoCon auto bid will get a first round bye.

I hope you are right, but I’m afraid the SoCon has zero respect nationally.

Harder to be FCS champ if you are not seeded. Not sure it has ever happened. Is that because the extra game hurts or because they get the seeding right.

By the way I like this pollsters thinking:

Right. People say just beat em all. Possible but no non seeded team ever seems to do it

I want to point out we were the beneficiary of slot voting this week. There is no conspiracy on votes - now taking all the committee chairman 3 teams from a conference that’s always been a ONE bid conf last year, yes that’s junk !!! That stinks of politics. Same w UNH in years prior as UNH guy was committee chair. But voting this week is fair and we were beneficiaries. We passed UC Davis (absolutely shoulda). Passed UCA and Nichols that was gonna be close and passed Illinois State. Teams below us did not benefit from these losses as UCA stayed ahead of them. We actually could be bye and jump a notch next week as nbr 10 plays NDSU. it’s fair week to week.

What’s not fair is the ‘you get all the credit by starting in the poll or not starting in the poll’. Whether we started in poll or not we are who we are but because we started at number 20 we are now 11. Had we started unranked we would probably be 23. Each year should be independent of prior year. I wish first pill cane out in October

though we want Woff to lose one more game and help us win Socon. if Woff wins they are now getting votes in both polls so our game vs them counts for credit. Still, I would rather Woff and Chatt lose handing us the SoCon bid

Lord have mercy! We have gone from being completely irrelevant in the FCS to #11 ranking in just over two years!

These players and coaches have done a great job. What a fun season it has been so far. But there is a lot more to be done. I bet the focus from the coaches is O.K. we're # 11. Here's what we need to do to be a top 5 team. Now let's get to work. CCH thinks big and he's got those players thinking big too. Our current coaches know how to identify and recruit talent and know how to develop it when they get on campus. I don't care what we have to do to keep CCH but we need to do it!!!

We just have to keep on winning. It will be hard not to slip up and lose 1 game but it can be done. I agree with CD2, a 10-2 FU SoCon champ will get a bye. But I also agree with Affirm, 1 loss and those idiots doing the polls will drop us like a hot potato.

CCH and this staff have done an awesome job. Recruiting will continue to be strong as success breeds success and guys will want to be here. Hopefully it resonates with the fan base, and we can fill the stadium up like back in the day. Kudos to the staff and players for stepping it up. Things only seem brighter as we are still a very young team.

Also we have won 9 of last 11 SoCon games including all of 2018. Losses in 2018 to ETSU and Sammy. 2018 6-2, 2019 3-0 but w wins on Sam and ETSU as all rights are reserved and all wrongs are avenged

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
