I like where he has FU at #5. He has KSU at #16. Should be more voters like this who pay attention. Too many give it no thought IMHO. Realistically we could move up 1 or 2 in the 2 polls.

It's early still, but Furman very much controls its destiny.

Villanova plays at James Madison this Saturday. Montana and Montana State will still play one another. NDSU and SDSU will still play each other.

It's going to be very hard to get into the top five —

It wouldn't shock me to see NOVA beat JMU., either way, JMU or Nova will earn a top-five spot.
Montana is the darling of everyone, but, the Griz have some big games ahead, SacSt on the road, Weber at home, and they close at Montana St. Not sure the BIg Sky deserves two seeds, cannibalization is ahead for those three.

The problem is the coaches poll -—
Kennesaw is 4th currently and that means they would take the seed. UCA and ILST losing should move Furman up to at least #12. Towson has a rough road ahead.

The more I look into this — the first bracket is going to get blown up. Still, I'm allocating some of my frequent flyer miles for a showdown in Missoula.

Seeding Kennesaw State is malpractice, in my opinion.

The committee will need to decide whether it is going to reward teams for playing weak schedules, or permit it. Kennesaw began the season highly ranked, plays hardly anyone of substance all season, and likely has very little risk of actually losing. They'll get a seed, a bye, and probably get trounced by the first good team they play.

Harder to be FCS champ if you are not seeded. Not sure it has ever happened. Is that because the extra game hurts or because they get the seeding right.

By the way I like this pollsters thinking:

Well, I'm not sure if it is so much seeding as it is trying to beat NDSU.

It's going to be hard to get into the top 10. Forget top 5, not happening. Getting into the top 8 would be nice to eliminate the extra game but that's will be hard also.

UC Davis is now 2-4 and has lost 3 in a row and still ranked #21. Just goes to show you how hard it is to drop from the poll. There were also no new entries in the poll. Just goes to show you how important it is to be ranked at the START of the season.

Look at Wofford. They were a top 10 team to start the year, stunk for two games, have throttled three consecutive teams, and are still waiting outside the top 25.

Guaranteed that if Wofford was 3-2 but had staggered their wins instead of losing two straight, they'd still be a top 15 team.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
