Gotta be something like a multi-year agreement to play a couple of games at The Well, maybe a women’s/men’s doubleheader. In my opinion for there to be a press conference, the opponent has to be either Clemson or South Carolina, or someone national like Duke, Kentucky, UNC, Kansas, etc.

Well that was a little disappointing. Big letdown. Really don't think that was a HUGE announcement.

Yep. "Uplifting Announcement", maybe even "Big Announcement". But "Huge"? I wonder the adjective when they do get around to a major Timmons renovation or practice facility: "Epic Announcement"? "Gargantuan Announcement?" "Biblical Proportions Announcement?" (Apologies to Dan Scott)

That’s the big news? Huge disappointment. Don’t tease us like this again. I don’t like it at all. We lose our home court advantage.
From the perspective of expanding our fan base and developing more interest in Furman basketball this is a no brainer. And could also generate better student attendance as Downtown is a major weekend hangout/destination for our student body. Also will attract the casual Furman fan who won’t have to worry about tickets and getting turned away at the door.
Of course we lose the Timmons “home court” advantage. But overall I like this and hope it works out that we continue doing it.
And yeah, I think this qualifies as a big announcement. Y’all can split semantic hairs all day but this is a significant departure from the status quo.
Now let’s figure out how to get a football game at Sirrine each year
Oh and if this sets the stage for hosting a holiday tournament of some kind in the future it’s even a bigger win.

I hope they advertise the hell out of it. If we want to be the basketball program of the upstate we need to do this.
I also don’t know how ppl can complain endlessly about Timmons and then bitch that playing at the Well will lose our home court advantage. Good grief.

I don’t know of anyone on this board that has complained about Timmons and is now complaining about playing at the Well. I agree with Paul C in that at least we have someone in charge that is mixing things up. Our new AD has only been on the job a month and is already making his presence known in the community. If it takes playing a few games downtown to build more support, then I am all for it. I am not for losing a game for the sake of building more support. I admit that I was too quick to criticize the announcement. After watching the press conference, I’m all in. Go Paladins!
So will my season tickets right at mid-court simply translate to roughly the same seats at the Well?
