Always nice to have some beef down low, but we are still well off for a while with Gurley/Slawson as Sophomores and Lawrence/Beeker as Freshmen. Plus added Hien for the 2020 class. We need play makers. Period.

Also - Jake Milkreit committed to William & Mary along with other Furman prospect Conner Kochera.

I was thinking more in the mold of a Mounce type, shooting but also height and athletic out of the gym ect.
If we can land someone like that and redshirt him next season when Mounce and Clark are seniors that would make a ton of sense
You are describing commit Garrett Hein

Yes I know, I am talking about getting another one, even if its a bit of a project (ie. Mounce red-shirted)
I love the guys that can play positions 2,3,4
The more guys like that we can get the more we will dominate the SoCon in my opinion, if we stack the deck nobody will be able to match up with us in this league :D

We need a basket protector with some size real bad. UNCG, Wofford, ETSU will all feature at least one. Just one James Dickey clone and I'm a happy man.

Dickey: 6'10" 210 lbs.

Gurley: 6'8" 210 lbs.

Not as tall, but probably more athletic and a much, much better shooter from the perimeter. Give me NG for the next 3 years over Dickey.

Dickey & Gurley appear next to one another among SoConJohn's ranking of Top 15 players in the Southern Conference, coming in at #11 & #12, respectively. In all, three Furman players made the list (Lyons #4, Gurley #12, Mounce #14), with a fourth (Hunter) among the "first five out". Only ETSU matches FU for players on the list: https://www.midmajormadness.com/2019/9/ ... -rodriguez

Jackson Sivills has committed to Murray State. Bummer... At least he didn't choose Wofford!!

Hopefully Kaleb Scott will realize the best choice is FU and round out this 2020 class.

Kaleb Scott has committed to Georgia State.
That seemed a likely destination for Scott. He didn't appear to have made his previously announced official visit to Furman and UNCC had already used their last open spot for another player. Georgia State was the third team he originally announced on his three team list. I don't know whether we dropped him from our list or he dropped the Paladins.

So now basically everyone we knew we were involved with have committed.

Looks like we will carry scholarship #3 into the spring period, which is not a surprise at all....and maybe carry it over to next year, which wouldn't be an issue with me.

We are only losing Lyons this year, so not like there will be a lot of minutes available next year.

Careful. Don’t count your rosters til your transfers hatch, or something like that.

A bit disappointing to miss on filling the final roster spot after getting four official visits announced from guys with 12-17 offers. You figure at least one will make the call.

We will be fine even if we wait until Spring. Fowler, Davis III, Rafferty,Mounce, and Clark were all Spring signees.

Still a chance now for a Fall signing. Several players from the Carolinas have been grabbing a lot of offers lately - "late bloomers" who may have been overlooked or have recently hit growth spurts. Maybe there is an overlooked player or two still.

Hope the endless bitching about Timmons is not hurting our recruiting efforts.

We're such a fickle bunch. I'd question anybody's acceptance who gives serious consideration to our blathering.

When is the last time someone “bitched” about Timmons?

Any basketball player visiting Furman would obviously see Timmons for themselves. There's no question that facilities are a detriment to Furman's basketball recruiting efforts, though it has nothing to do with the alleged and mostly fictional "bitching" you refer to.

We just flipped that weakness on its head, playing games at the Well just turned a recruiting shortfall into a recruiting plus if we can make it a success

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
