Question:
Sivills was here this past weekend, Kochera will be here either this weekend or next, then Scott on the 21st.
Are these visits based around the team's schedule or the recruit's? Should we read the visit order as our team preferences, such as Sivills is number one on our board, Kochera is number two, and Scott three? If that isn't the case, how does the team manage schalorship offers if the first priority isn't the first visit?
It is all situational. In general, the players invited in first may be favored, but it could also depend on how they have scheduled their visits. Some players, especially highly recruited ones, may want to take all their visits before making a decision. In that case maybe the final visit is the best one to get.

Conner Kochera has committed to William & Mary during his official visit.

Interesting choice - 6'11" Burke Smith has committed to Boise State after an official visit there this weekend. Smith's lives in Richmond, VA, his parents graduated from William and Mary, and his father played basketball at William and Mary. I suppose he wanted a change of scenery. Boise State was the farthest from his home - more than 1000 miles farther than any other school that recruited him.

Jake Milkereit, a 6'5" guard from Bishop Lynch HS in Dallas, TX, now lists Furman as one of his top five choices. He also shows William and Mary, Utah State, Indiana State, and Wofford on his list. It appears Furman and Wofford were added to his list after Conner Kochera picked William and Mary. Verbal Commits only shows W&M and Indiana State with offers. Judging from the dunks and blocked shots on his video highlights he is a good athlete in addition to his shooting skills.

Another interesting commitment - Andre Weir, 6'10" center from Florida, chose Northeastern University from 17 listed offers. Like Burke Smith, he picked a school that was the farthest from his hometown - almost 1500 miles.

Jake Milkereit was on campus today for a visit. Maybe he was took Kochera's slot. It's possible he may also go to Wofford this weekend too.

Back to 2020 recruits... Jackson Sivills will visit Murray State this weekend and Vanderbilt the week after for his 5th official visit. Sivills' father played for Murray State, but they don't have any open roster spots according to the Verbal Commits chart. They already have a commitment from a player at his position who was more highly recruited. I suppose they might ask him to come in as a walk-on, or wait until spring in case someone transfers out. Sivills doesn't even have a reported offer from Vanderbilt so perhaps he is a backup recruit for them. LINK

Kaleb Scott's official visit to Furman is scheduled for this weekend. He has other visits to Georgia State and UNCC scheduled but it seems Elon is still pushing to get on the list too.

Jackson Threadgill committed to UNC-Charlotte. His top five choices were all (except Georgia) within about one hour+ drive from his home so choosing the nearest one of the bunch probably isn't a surprise.

Some updates and speculation...

Jake Milkereit will announce his college choice tomorrow afternoon. He was scheduled for an official visit to Indiana State this weekend but apparently cancelled it. It doesn't appear he will take visits to Wofford and Utah State so it is possible his choice will be William and Mary or Furman.

No evidence that Kaleb Scott visited Furman this weekend as earlier planned. He will take trips to Georgia State and Elon.

Milkereit would be a nice pickup. Smooth shooter at 6-5 and also seems to see the floor well. Decent athleticism. Avg 20ppg/6rpg/3apg and shot 46% from 3 (127/276) his Jr year.

He would have been a decent pickup, but I feel since we only have 1 scholarship left might be more beneficial if we can land an athletic 6'7 (or taller) player, whoever we get there is a good chance we should be able to redshirt them next season

Always nice to have some beef down low, but we are still well off for a while with Gurley/Slawson as Sophomores and Lawrence/Beeker as Freshmen. Plus added Hien for the 2020 class. We need play makers. Period.

Also - Jake Milkreit committed to William & Mary along with other Furman prospect Conner Kochera.

I was thinking more in the mold of a Mounce type, shooting but also height and athletic out of the gym ect.
If we can land someone like that and redshirt him next season when Mounce and Clark are seniors that would make a ton of sense

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
