Winning the SoCon on 3/9 and getting an NCAA tourney seeding landing us in Greensboro or Tampa would be incredible!

Regarding the non-D 1 teams on our schedule:
I hope that playing the 2 or possibly 3 non-D 1 teams will work in our favor rather than against us, throughout the remainder of the regular season, and in SoCon tournament, and in NCAA tournament. I hope that playing the 2 or possibly 3 non-D 1 teams will NOT somehow work against us as we go up against higher-level teams, particularly when we, hopefully, get to the NCAA tournament. I realize there are various reasons for scheduling 2 or possibly 3 non-D 1 teams; however, it seems that increasing attendance and interest would be quite low on the list of reasons.

I think the simple answer as to why we have any of them on the schedule is that it is the only way we could get those particular games to be home games, otherwise we would be on the road even more
Either the money is not there to get more decent home games or in most cases teams just don't want to come and lose to us in Timmons arena, they are afraid, very afraid :D

So, by your explanations, the money is so tight, and the “fear” is so high, that we could not get even a game, in exchange for a future game at their place, with anybody like UNCA, Winthrop, Radford, High Point, CofC, Charlotte, W&M, Richmond, UNCW, Coastal Carolina, Stetson, Jacksonville University, Georgia State, etc. I find that hard to believe. I see the reason for us having 3 non-D1 games as being us having a preference for easier, cheaper games. I can accept that explanation more than the explanation that every D1 team fears playing us at our place.
The money part, maybe I can accept that, but it’s a little sad if that’s it. All I’m saying is that 2 non-D1 games is enough. I strongly prefer not having more than 2.

If you see more than 2 its because money or other teams fear resulted in us having to go that rout in order to get another home game, getting 3 of these games was not our original preference

Basically, the bigger conferences are starting to play more games against other big conferences. See B12-BIG EAST, ACC-B10 challenges, etc. They are also starting to play more conference games. So that shrinks the pool. So keep that in mind. And then schools like Furman would prefer to have a semi-equal number of home and road non-conference games. And not just Furman, schools in the Big South, OVC, A-10, CAA, etc. all have a similar philosophy. So keep that in mind. Then consider that Furman has gotten really good and is known to have a good home-court environment (see our record over last few years). It's going to be downright impossible to get a Davidson or CofC or whoever to come to Timmons. I'm in awe that we got a home-and-home with Loyola, but to be fair, until they made the Final Four, they were a virtually unknown, average to above average mid-major. So it makes a bit more sense how that came about. So what you end up with is trying to figure out how you can do a bunch of home-and-homes with a select number of mid-major conferences that would make sense from a money perspective and also where it wouldn't create a big imbalance for either team's non-conference home/away schedule. It's gotta be incredibly stressful and frustrating.
