According to football's instagram page. Not surprising ... excited to see his growth from year 1 to year 2.

I agree, he put in a lot of work last year, I am sure we will see both this season. I am glad "Toe meets Leather" in a few days!

Yep, CCH confirmed what we already knew during his press conference. He told Grainger last week.

Not a big surprise to me, as it has seemed the coaches have really liked him since the day he stepped on campus. But seems like Sisson is very close and gave him a run for it, and will probably get significant snaps. Nice to have 2 good options, even if they are both relatively green....

I agree. Grainger has a great deal of upside because of his height and potential for filling out his body as he gets older and into the weight program. Both QB's have looked much sharper in camp then they did last season. The trouble with trying to evaluate QB's in camp is that they don't get hit and therefore coaches cannot see how they function in game conditions. Decision making under stress is perhaps the most important element in a QB's performance. We will find out soon enough in that regard. I also agree that Sisson will get significant and meaningful snaps during that all important game time evaluation process. The competition they have had has been good for both of them and I think will continue to be. Despite the lack of experience, I think FU is in very good shape at the position.

Jasper - I know you and I have seen several practices. One thing I've noticed is Grainger has very good velocity on his throws. He showed us a big arm last season but in the pre-season work, I've seen his balls are getting out quickly and they have a lot of zip.

Grainger also gives the Dins a QB that defenses will have to account for his running ability.

Everyone keeps touting Grainger's running ability but he really hasn't shown that yet has he? He had a net of 33 yds rushing last year with a long of 18. I just don't remember him running that much. Most of his attempts were out of the passing game IIRC. Not saying he is not a threat, but he hasn't shown that yet but hoping he will in 4 days.

Grainger had some negative yards last season - I just took a quick look and couldn't find the sack total.
So your right - statistically Grainger is an unknown as a runner. My take, Grainger has the wheels to pick up a lot of trash yards. Defenses will have to account for him in the run game. I guess we will see if his athletic ability translates into positive plays this season.

You are correct. I am really going by the running ability I see in practices. I am throwing out his stats from last year. I think he was in a very tough position as a true freshman with very little HS experience. He looks like a different player this season in practices. Now the true test comes on Saturday.

I think Grainger may turn out to be one of the best ever to play at Furman. He has 4 years eligibility. In two years folks will be asking "how did Furman land that guy?"

and part of my hope for both of these guys is recalling Grainger played at Clemson... Grainger played at Elon (granted, I have to admit the whole team didn't show for that game) ... Grainger played vs Samford bc Roberts got hurt .... Citadel was almost all Jemar Lincoln but Sisson had to come in in a very tough passing situation so he never really had a shot - Citadel knew to blitz

Rip the rear view mirror off the windshield. We are moving forward not looking back. All this worry is for naught.

My take on Grainger last year was that he had some issues with the option reads and he was prone to the fumble. Practice, experience, and good coaching can go a long way toward correcting these. we've got two of three, and the 3d will come in time.

We'll see on Saturday. Important to get off to a good start. Can't take CSU for granted. That has bitten us in the past . Kennesaw State, Elon, ETSU.
