Did a little more internet research. Shiflett broke his ankle his senior year ( non surgical). Was a State finalist in 100m in class 4A. Legitimate 4.5 guy. GT was hot on him... in fact 24/7 crystal ball prediction him at 100% GT before the broken ankle. Saw where he was on deans list at MTSU fall semester. He was selected to the Rising Seniors Junior Bowl where he was teammate of Justin Fields. He even punted last year in a game or two for MTSU. His athleticism and quickness might be a perfect for our offense. If not at QB he could help somewhere. Good pick up Here is a link to Georgia HS recruiting site. https://recruitgeorgia.com/blue-raiders ... -shiflett/

Chatt Times Free Press male athlete of year finalist as junior. https://www.timesfreepress.com/news/spo ... ed/435136/

If you just google him and do some surfing there are numerous links and articles.
Punted, you say...hmmm. Reckon has FU ever had another speedy FBS QB Transfer in, who was also a Punter?

If so...how did that go?
For a while, we had a stretch with QBs doubling as punters with Bo Moore and Ingle Martin.

I haven't seen the quick kick in a while. Maybe we'll bring that back.

Yeah...that’s the one. That Ingle guy. Other than his lack of Ice Dancing skills, he was a fairly productive addition for the Paladins if I recall correctly.

Danggg. That hurts a little.
only if we have injuries, which can be a real concern. But as we've said earlier we have 4 legit options with Thomas Gordon and DeJuan Bell at one spot and Ryan DeLuca and Avery Armstrong at the other....I was looking forward to see what Hall could bring but I guess we won't get that chance.

Is the next guy up Zach Peterson?

Hard to say at that position, which is highly flexible for Furman.

I think any loss is a hit to the depth chart. That said, we have a pretty solid rotation of receivers at the moment. My guess is Armstrong will fit in behind DeLuca at the SE spot.

Furman primarily runs a two WR set. We have a split (on the line) and a flanker (off the line). We are a bit unique in our TE use, and utilize that position as a third WR (not just as a pass catcher, but feathered well outside of the formation).

In instances where we go with three WRs, Armstrong generally appears to be the guy. In those instances, he will ordinarily be playing on the line of scrimmage, similar to the split end. So, he's probably the most likely one to move to another on-the-line position.

My guess:

SE: Deluca, Armstrong
FLk: Gordon, Bell

Obviously, we'll want to start working in younger guys. The only senior in the WR corps is Gordon.

I think it is too early to determine who might be the next man up. Armstrong and DeLuca were both QBs in high school. Maybe Shiflett loses out the starting QB job and moves to WR. Maybe Grainger does. Maybe one of these freshmen steps into a role. Clay Hendrix has not been shy about moving guys around and playing young players.

I have thought for the last month or so that either Shiflett or Grainger will end up at receiver at some point.
While it is never a bad idea to have some depth at QB, I don't disagree with this. Both of those guys appear to be superb athletes. If you can find a way to have both on the field at the same time, that'd be great.
