For me, coach Satterfield was the first coach I really knew as a follower of Furman football growing up...Still have the autographed photo he gave me following that 1988 season...He had a great offensive mind and often conducted coaching clinics on running an option offense...But as good of a coach as he was, he was an even better person...RIP coach...Prayers and condolences to his family...Jimmy Satterfield was Furman football...He always will be!

As a Furman fan, with the well-developed football hatreds of such, I don't know that we have had a finer month than that run from November 19 to December 17, 1988, which gave us victories over the Citadel, Marshall and Georgia Southern. For that alone, I will always smile, but there was so very much more.

Sometimes we forget how fortunate we are -- in football, we have had a great run, but our teams have been led, at least as long as I have been a fan, which is now approaching four decades, by men who make our university proud. Coach Satterfield surrounded himself with outstanding men, be they players, assistant coaches, or football staffers. Our university still benefits from that.

Thank you to Coach Satterfield, and prayers for his family, players, and many friends.
