Luck and injuries play a big role in this.
Wofford's historic season was aided by good health. They did lose Stumpe for a majority of the year, but he wasn't one of the two or three key players.
In 2015 we made the SoCon championship game in a surprise but lost Acox to injury 5 minutes into the game and lost in a close call. Last year we were hurt by Sibley's injury early in the year when he was playing at a higher level than his POY season. This year we had to overcome injuries to first Brown and then Rafferty. I really like our chances if Rafferty had been 100%.
The numbers PaulC posted show that this year was the anomaly for the Terriers - more than 120 spots higher in the rankings than any of the previous three years. Furman has been making steady improvement. Now, whether we can continue the upward march next year is our question to answer. It won't be easy.
