How can this be done....

Adding larger seating sections to the endzones would be my first thought, how would that work best?

Every single seat we can add will help, thoughts........

This topic alone is indicative of the progress this program's made.

That said, as CBR mentioned in his post-game comments, "it's not about the size of the crowd, it's about how much energy can we create." To his point, is increasing the seating capacity of Timmons the best way to create the needed energy? This year's new scoreboards & sound system apparently were successful. Is the next step really increasing Timmons' seating capacity?

The scoreboard is good. The sound system is terrible. I enjoyed the entertainment last night, nothing but the band and the cheerleaders. No silly games. Well done.

Blow it up and start over. It's a horrible basketball venue.
How much of your PowerBall winnings will you be donating to the new Furman Basketball Arena project?
Should we get a message out to the dear woman who won that we are asking her for $X for this new arena? Since she desires anonymity, we can name it The Arena or anything she would like.
What is $X, by the way?
$60 million?
$80 million?
Elon & Wofford each have new arenas. What did they each cost?

It absolutely is 100%

I am talking about taking the capacity from the current 2,500 to closer to 3,000

Would mean not only more fans and louder arena, but more revenue for the program with more ticket sales to the games that can sellout!!! $$$$$$$

Increasing the end-zone seating size seems like the easiest way to capitalize on this opportunity and would not require much investment

Elon’s - saw estimate’s of $40-$45 million

I agree that increasing the end zone seating would be easy and relatively inexpensive. Just doubling the size would increase by 400-500. 3 times would be 7-800. IIRC at one time did we not have a bigger end zone section? Everyone needs to note on their survey that we should increase the capacity either by opening some hidden seats or adding end zone seats.

Spend that money instead on marketing and polishing the game day experience.
No money would need to be spent on adding seats. The bleachers are already there. Just roll them out.

I am not in favor of rolling out the sideways bleachers, just expanding the sections that are already there by making them larger/steeper, there is the space for it
And why are we discussing money, this is a venture that would not only pay for itself quickly but also begin to generate more revenue eventually (increased ticket sales = increased revenue)

And while on the subject, the right kind of marketing is something that can pay for itself as well (increased attendance = increased revenue)

All these things go together

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
