Extend the tournament by one week.
Every team gets in unless on probation.
Double elimination.
Seed the thing so that the top "x" teams are not involved in early round(s).
You are welcome.
Who is this Hawg person?

Then call the early rounds the" conference tournaments" ...

Lunardi's latest comments. https://www.thestate.com/sports/college ... 86724.html
Worth pasting here:

"“If I were to rank the at-large candidates in the Southern Conference, I would actually place (UNCG) ahead of Furman because they beat them in the conference tournament for one thing, And, two, they finished two games ahead of them in the regular season. So I think that part would be easy.

“So in Furman’s case, what you’re really saying is there would have to be three teams from the Southern Conference for them to make it. And I think if we’re honest with ourselves, we know that’s not going to happen.”

First thing out of his mouth: head-to-head results.

Lunardi also has Furman ahead of UNCG in his latest bracketology... Maybe he read our thread that proves that UNCG's only quad 1 win is against Furman on a neutral court. Without Furman being quad 1, they have no resume at all other than posting 28 wins. Again, a loss on a neutral court with FU's best player injured, shooting less than half his average FG% can not make UNCG THAT much ahead of Furman, if at all.

For whatever tiny chance we have, it's not starting out great today ... VCU lost as #1 seed in A-10 and I'm sure has a good shot at an at-large spot. LSU is in danger of losing to Florida, another bubble team. So that hurts us in two ways if it happens. Better hope Nebraska doesn't find a way to win another one this afternoon.

And LSU loses. That is probably the nail in the coffin for us, if that hadn't already occurred Sunday.

I think we can stop discussing this stuff now, lets focus on the NIT and getting a good crowd to Timmons next week!

Yep, thanks LSU for assuring a 15 loss Florida team gets in.

Yep, thanks LSU for assuring a 15 loss Florida team gets in. The SEC is bad like always should get 3-4 in and they will get 8-9. This opens it up for SC too.

Another thing is MSU got outscored by Ohio St. 16-0 in the last 4 minutes to make a route look close.

The VCU loss probably give the auto bid to Davidson which I hate also.

Looks like the NIT, and I doubt we will be one of the first four out. I hate to think we might have to travel to Clemson or S. Carolina for our first game.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
